We walked into La Poule au Pot purely by chance, with no reservation and no idea of its history or the chef behind it. We were simply looking for a warm meal after a long day in Paris, and what we found turned out to be one of the most memorable dining experiences of our trip. From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere was welcoming. The service was exceptional. The lady who attended to us was like a mother to everyone. Kind, attentive, and genuinely warm. She made sure we were comfortable and even let me charge my phone, which was running low. The entire staff made us feel right at home. We ordered the escargot, the French onion soup which was incredibly rich and flavorful, a beautifully cooked steak that became our favorite of the night, and the poule au pot—a classic chicken and broth dish that was deeply comforting and satisfying. We would like to thank the staff of this lovely place for the wonderful experience for my family.

I was walking home from an evening cruise and this restaurant was two doors down from our place. One of the waiters was outside so we stopped to chat and said no need for a reservation pop in tomorrow which we did. I was with my daughter and granddaughter. We retreated so nice and it was lively and fun and I got the traditional chicken dish, which was delicious. However, what I truly enjoyed was how enjoyable the evening turned out it was like being in your mother‘s kitchen.

Me and my family found this restaurant while running in the rain from the Invalides Hotel. It is a small restaurant but it has a very nice atmosphere, with great service and amazing food. Everything came to our table extremely fast and we were able to enjoy our food while relaxing. The menu of the day is great, as it includes a great starter, a flavorful main course and a lovely dessert. If we’re ever back in Paris, we will for sure eat here again.

I first ate here about 15 years ago and it was amazing. Returned to Paris in December for my honeymoon and I had to take my husband. I was thrilled to see the restaurant was still there and still fantastic! A classic, wonderful, Parisian restaurant frequented by locals. The staff are very friendly and happy to help, the beer is great! But the food…good God. It was a chilly rainy night when we went so a bowl of l’oignon gratinee was in order and perfect! Flavorful, hot, and cheesy…mmmm. And then…the poule au pot, served in a copper kettle piping hot. So flavorful, the chicken falls off the bone and everything is delicious. Make this a stop when in Paris you won’t...

What a great little place!! We had the 'formula', which is a three set course meal, and I couldn't fault it. The carrot soup starter was really good. The main was a 'square of pork cutlet' with potato puree, and dessert was a cherry tart. I can honestly say that I was NOT hungry after the meal - it was delicious!! Everything had fantastic flavour, and generous portion sizes. Fast friendly service, and really nice people. 10/10 Sorry - no photos, as I ate everything too fast - just my cuppa which was served...
