I sent the following complaint by mail and have never received any answer
We were your guests on 31.05.24 and reserved a table directly via your homepage on 05.05.2024. Your homepage and your appearance were very appealing and the fact that it is listed in Gault Millau also convinced me. I was looking for a special place with a special atmosphere to celebrate my mother's birthday. I was sure that we would have a wonderful evening in your establishment.
On arrival, I said that I had made a reservation. The lady took no notice of this and sat us at a table in the corner of the restaurant. Another lady served us and immediately informed us that she didn't actually work here and only took our orders. We ordered a large bottle of water and two glasses of wine as well as two rump steaks and a rib-eye steak.
The dishes arrived very quickly, but the wine had not yet been brought. When we asked, the two glasses of wine were brought much later. The fries were soggy and looked like they had been reheated. The meat was okay, but we are used to different quality from other steakhouses. We sat at the table for a very long time without drinks. We weren't asked if we wanted another drink or dessert. We were completely left to ourselves in this corner.
After a very long time we were asked if he could clear the table. This service shocked us and we were very disappointed. Nobody came back and we had to go to the counter to pay. After we complained, the staff could barely understand us and offered us a 20% discount. However, in retrospect it was not a compensation, but they offer this discount via TheFork anyway. I subsequently saw on the receipt that the wrong meat (entrecôte) had been charged and that two more glasses of wine had been charged, although we only drank two glasses of wine. That was the highlight of this disastrous evening. Last but not least, I would like to tell you that the toilets resembled a dungeon and are in need of renovation.
This evening ruined our enjoyment of your restaurant and will forever remain a...
Read moreDecided to give this restaurant a try because of the Pride sticker on their front door. After sitting down, my partner and I were immediately met with hostility. Waitress was visibly and verbally hostile. Walked out and will never be coming back. The discrimination was irrefutably disgusting.
Edited: Since I can’t reply to the owner directly I’m going to clarify here. Your waitress needs to be fired for lying and discriminating on LGBTQ/minority families. I sat down with my partner and child because my 6 year old was hungry and wanted something quick to eat. We even tried to order 2 drinks along with our food — however this wasn’t “enough” for your waitress and apparently is not enough for you either. What you’re trying to say is, anyone who sits down needs to order 3 plates in order to receive service? Your business model is disgusting and all families should avoid this establishment. Your waitress snatched our menus and yelled at us in front of our child who is still traumatized by the event. Your comment shows what kind of business owner you are, someone who cares more about how much their customer spends rather than the service they receive. When I went up to your waitress to ask for an apology, she claimed to be the manager and also owner. I advise you look at your security footage before you try to defend lies. Customers around us were also appalled. You and your establishment are a shame to the LGBTQ community.
To summarize: My child was left hungry because your waitress decided that soup and 2 drinks was not enough of a spend to serve. And you defended that with pride. This is why your restaurant was empty during prime lunch hours and will probably be out of business by the time I return to...
Read moreWe enjoyed our experience at Le Beef Marais Steakhouse, but it wasn’t at the quality we had expected for the price.
When we arrived, despite having a reservation, we were told that the front room was full, so we were brought up and down some stairs to a separate room with more tables and chairs. These were really close together and the chairs were actually the same type of chair you might get when you’re camping - definitely outdoor chairs. I didn’t feel overly comfortable when seated and, due to the cramped nature of this separate room and the amount of people in it, it was pretty loud and hard to hear my fiancé as we spoke to each other.
We both ordered the XXL ribeye (entrecôte) steak with cheesy mashed potatoes and a sauce each. Steak-wise, we were expecting a lot better at 52€ a piece - the quality was similar to that served at our local steakhouse for half of the price. It was, however, served really quickly and cooked well. The seasoning wasn’t all there either though, so we had to season the steak again ourselves.
The mashed potatoes were the star of the show, however; they were absolutely rich and indulgent. The sauce options were okay, but it would have been nice to see some of the classics too, like a béarnaise, for example.
All-in-all, we didn’t have a bad time but, due to the environment we were dining in and the excessive pricing on an average-tasting piece of steak, I can’t rate this over a 3. Our waiter was exceptional though and so full of charisma, so he really lifted the experience - a big...
