I visited Paris and stayed in Latin Quarter in late October. Before my arrival, I made most of reservations of the restaurants that I am interesting, one reservation was made through my hotel. My hotel made a reservation for me with Le Bistrot Du Perigord for dinner on October 24, at 8 pm. My hotel told me that there is confirmation from the restaurant. However, when I arrived at the restaurant, I was told I am not on their reservation list. I showed the waiter my confirmation email but he insisted that if the restaurant did not send another confirmation email again on the day before, the reservation is not valid.
The younger waiter is very rude. He said to me with an upset face and voice: you either eat outside or no food. That day was pretty chilly and mildly windy.
Then 2 groups of customers arrived after me, one group with 2 people arrived 20 min later, and another group of 3 people arrived 30 min later, and they were told tables will be ready for them soon. The both groups told me that they did not have reservations, but the restaurant will make table for them.
After 40 min stranded by the restaurant door, I decided to leave.
I understand one customer will take the same table as two customers which would affect the restaurant money flow slightly. The dinner is fixed 3 courses for about 55 euro if I remember correctly. But would you please add a note on your website and let solo travelers know that even we made reservations, it likely to be cancelled by restaurant without notifying customers; or we have to eat outside regardless the weather condition? So we won’t book the reservation. There are so many good restaurants nearby, we don’t have to eat at your place. As tourists, after 10 hours walking in the city, we are tired. If we are told on the last minutes that our reservations are not valid and we need to search around for another restaurant, it is really torturing. We are not familiar with the areas, new search for us is not as easy as locals do.
When I returned to my hotel, I mentioned what happen to the front desk. The front desk pulled out the confirmation email. The hotel wrote down the restaurant name-Le Bistrot Du Perigord. Hotel said it’s really not acceptable and they will not recommend this restaurant to any of their customers.
I understand all businesses want more money to come in. But how about the faithfulness and credibility? Please do not foolish tourists.
I ate at many descent restaurants with good online reviews and good reputations while I was in Paris; those restaurants are all busy; but none of them act as Le Bistrot Du...

Hot goat cheese salad Welll rounded performance, cheese was well selected but could be a little bit more toasted. Salad was dressed with an amazing balsamic, the petit tomatoes served as a palette cleanser right after the cheese and it was very refreshing and delightful.
Onion soup Very flavourful but yet well balanced. Striking aromatic fragarance with smell of caremellized onions, Well rounded stock as the base and leaves a sweet note of the onions on the palette. Nicely presented and generous portion.
Bread Crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, Classic french staple, and classically perfect.
Duck breast Presentation was stunning, but on closer inspection the duck breast seemed slightly overcooked. HOWEVER, when you cut into it its still juicy and tender, well seasoned and crusted. Sweet potato puree was a very bold but well thought addition the the dish, and the purple potato crisps added colour and crunch factor. The red wine sauce was aromatic and bursting of flavours which I believe they added the rendered duck fat.
Beef bourginon Deep and rich flavours on the palette with fork-tender beef. Carrots were boiled to perfection with hints of spices to add depth and complexity. A french staple well made without any uncessary fuss or intepretation.
Service Its family run but do expect a very attentive and smooth service, didn't have to prompt or ask for anything to be done at all, and they were patient and welcoming.
Millefueue Striking presentation and very inviting. Pastry was crispy and buttery and added very good texture. Apples were naturally sweet and slightly tangy and well cooked... On contrast on the sweetness of apples and custard the coffee ice cream in the middle offered a good balance and the richness of the ice cream complimented the apples very well. Overall an excellent...
Read moreWe were looking for a final Paris food experience that was absolutely perfect and we found it at Le Bistrot Du Périgord! The restaurant ambience is incredible and feels like you are stepping into a home of a local Parisian family that has been a kind and welcoming supporter of his local community for many years. You felt like family once inside.
The menu offered many entree options as well as paired appetizers, entree and dessert selections. Knowing our choices we inquired for a wine pairing bottle for our meal. A red was selected that was phenomenal! Merci beaucoup!
One selection was an entree of roasted duck and potato with mushrooms that were amazing. The duck was cooked beautifully and the potato’s were amazing. It was served with a house sauce.
Second selection ordered was the select one option of appetizer - salad with cooked goat cheese. The cooked goat cheese was served in a warm baguette slice that made for the most delicious croutons. Entree selected was the duck breast served with sweet potato and mushrooms. The duck was cooked beautifully and all the flavors were incorporated and fantastic! To finish the dessert option chosen was a pistachio cream, fig and mango purée served on a puffed pastry and dusted with cinnamon. The flavors blended together smoothly and the dessert was decadent yet light for a fabulous finish.
We highly suggest finding this spot and enjoying a meal! Located near...
