The hotel is very well located and on a quiet side street. Our standard room was a bit small (especially bathroom) but probably not by Paris standards. The room was clean and well-furnished and had a window you could open, which proved to be essential as the climate control was quite difficult. There didn't appear to be any way to control the air conditioning (other than on/off) in our room (contrary to assertions by staff). We found that we needed some heat (controlled in the room, unlike a/c) in order to counter-balance the a/c, which was controlled by the front desk, as there was no way to modify the strong air flow. We therefore decided to forego the air cond., as we had the option of opening the window. Had this been in the summer, we would have had to find the right balance between a/c and heat through trial and error, which is not an efficient way to control the temp. and could have required constant attention. The night clerk acted rather peevishly when I explained the problem. I do not know if air control in the other rooms in the hotel operate in the same convoluted manner.
The staff was helpful and accommodated our requests. The breakfasts were also good. We would probably stay there again, provided we had some assurance that our problem with regulating the room temp....
Read moreThe hotel’s location is fantastic for transportation and main sites…and honestly that’s all that I found appealing about this place. I was a solo traveler so I had the single room. Unfortunately, the room smelled like sewage. I don’t know if it’s because my headboard was right next to the bathroom or there was just some kind of problem, but it just smelled. I also had instant allergies in that room again probably because of the sewage and potentially the mold or mildew from how humid (in March)the room was. There was no refrigerator or microwave. I also didn’t have one of those do not disturb signs, which is silly to complain about, but when I asked for one because I didn’t want housekeeping to come by and knock on my door every day at about 9:45 when I’m trying to sleep in, the front desk told me to “doublecheck” and “they were sure it was there” and “they’d have housekeeping bring one tomorrow.” The room is maybe 100 ft.² I can assure you that no amount of double checking was going to find that sign. Also, if you like to read and relax in the evenings there is one 30 W bulb that lights up the entire room otherwise you have to rely on the bathroom light to do any reading. The location was great but I would not stay here again...
Read moreDON'T BOOK THIS HOTEL UNLESS YOU WANT TO BID FOR THE HIGHEST PRICE.
Hotel cancelled reservation. The hotel ran the cc payment before our arrival (in fact it was the night before we were to arrive). Upon calling them they were rude and not helpful at all. We were told that the cancellation was because of payment, but we hadn't even checked in yet. Our reservation stated to pay at time of check in. The cc was run the night before and apparently several times before that. (Our cc company contacted us about potential fraud) Upon our contact with them they stated that they gave our room away and that the hotel was booked up with no rooms available. They said they could get us another room....of course at a much higher price (almost twice the original rate)(they said they had no more rooms....so how can they get a room now?) Upon further examination of other hotels in the area....all the hotels were sold out and were calling each other for room availability....so it might a bit of a reach but they clearly wanted to book the room at a higher rate since we booked over a month prior to this trip at a much lower rate than what the rooms are going for now. Oh....and btw....they are trying to charge a cancellation fee....
So...
