Hôtel Jardin de Cluny has a great location and the staff were generally friendly, but overall it didn’t feel like a true 4-star hotel experience.
Our King room, though small, was beautiful, practical, and had a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was amazing and very diverse. One of the best we had among hotels in France.
However, some small details made us feel like the hotel is trying too hard to cut costs. The air conditioning was disabled, claimed it's enabled only on specific months, and we had to explicitly request for it to be turned on since the room was too cold. There was no coffee machine in the room, which could be understandable given the room's small size, but then they charged €2 per a Nespresso capsule at the lobby, which felt a bit stingy. We were also given too few towels and had to ask for more every day. I think it should be obvious to replace 3 used towels with 3 new ones, instead of just 1-2. Additionally, there are no extra facilities such as gym, etc. There is a small bar on -1, in which we were sent to use the taps in the toilet when we asked for some drinking water. This would easily be a 5/5 for a 3-star hotel, but for a hotel claiming to be 4-star, I reduced to 4/5. On our last day, the hotel booked a taxi to CDG for us and quoted a specific price. When the driver arrived, he demanded 30% more. While the staff did try to intervene by speaking with him, they ultimately didn’t honor the promised price and left us to deal with the situation ourselves. The driver was very rude and aggressive, and the whole experience really ruined the end of our trip. I would have expected the hotel to take responsibility for their mistake, but they simply excused it by saying the staff member who booked it was new and unaware of some extra charges. Because of this, I’m reducing further to 3/5. Update: I initially booked through Booking.com and rebooked within the free cancellation period to change room type. Despite this, the hotel charged me for the cancelled reservation, and I was able to get my money back only after disputing the charge with the credit card company. The hotel later contacted to update it was supposed to be a preauthorization (why do that so early, while I could cancel freely anyway, and without mentioning this process while booking?) so the charge might have been a technical issue. Still had to waste my time...
Read moreThe room is very small with a small elevator. Small bathroom as well. Not really hot water to have a proper bath. For my stay the three out of four nights I spent the room was freezing cold . They just provided a small heater that cannot warm the whole room and you cannot have it open for more than an hour because makes you feel dizzy. After keep requesting to fix this matter they kept ignoring with the manager Anna to keep hiding from me till today. I requested refund for at least the two days and I received as an answer that according to her opinion as she gave to reception the room was not that cold. I paid 1000€ . Very unprofessionals they don't respect at all their guests and that the hotel is already overpriced for what it is and what they offer. Breakfast the tiniest I have seen. All the plates were broken. They gave you only one small plate for salty and sweet choice. This hotel is a very bad choice and for sure no value for money. Honestly run away from this choice you will regret it like me and my family
It's at least ridiculous to answer that you provided a solution with a portable heater . This not even acceptable for a four star hotel to offer to the guests if I wanted do low service I wouldn't have paid so much money. Your manager is till now disappeared because I requested a refund of course for the low service and the freezing nights we spent in your hotel. All the plates were broken in your breakfast area with a very small variety of choices for breakfast.
I work in the tourism field and especially with hotels so let me know what is proper for a four star hotel and what it is completely unacceptable.
I tried several times to find solutions during my stay but nothing
You are unprofessionals and people should know to avoid staying in such a low service area that they had to pay so expensive to receive so...
Read moreOn the good side this is a well positioned hotel that looks pretty much exactly as the photos. The hot water is great, the lift works, the beds are ok, the room is nicely laid out (we had the slightly bigger one) with modern fittings and the heating was fine. On the downside they strongly prefer that each room is given one access key that you drop off and pick it up from reception when you enter/exit the property. This was ok for the first couple of days but on a longer stay it started to feel weird - note that you can insist on two keys. The biggest issues we had in our room was noise - from the elevator, from the cleaner in the morning banging around the vacuum cleaner that seems to permanently live in the corridor during the day, the 2am linen truck delivery and related use of the lift with clanging and banging or pipes from the upper levels so that we clearly knew when someone flushed a toilet or took a shower. It’s just not a 4 star feeling when you have to step over the vacuum cleaner to open your room door on multiple occasions. The hotel was very full and on two days we were out in the morning and returned around 1.30pm to find the room not done and as soon as we stepped inside, we got the knock offering to clean the room. It started to feel like this was intentional, particularly as they clearly know when the occupants are out because we hand in the key and we were out no later than 9am in the morning. We were perplexed by this hotel - it’s great if you are visiting for a few days and want easy access to key sites. For a longer stay or for those wanting a slightly quieter or less touristic area, maybe this isn’t the...
