Here’s why I gave Hotel du College de France FIVE stars.
LOCATION: The RER-B train from CDG airport drops you off less than a 5 minute walk to the hotel. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to numerous restaurants, from casual (sometimes touristy) side-walk cafes to high end French cuisine. The hotel near the Seine and is walkable to several tourist attractions like Notre Dame, The Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, and if you have good walking shoes, the Arc de Triumph and Champs-Élysées.
HOSPITALITY: We were greeted upon arrival by Jean Marc and Yana. We arrived early and while we waited for our room to be ready, we were offered a delicious double expresso. The entire staff went out of their way to offer us a very pleasant experience. Breakfast was a very reasonable 10 Euros per person per day and served in a very quaint breakfast room. Made to order eggs were offered (scrambled, boiled, etc) and there were a variety of meats, cheeses, pastries, and breads. Everyone who worked the breakfast shift was delightful, but Melanie in particular was amazing.
THE ROOM: The room was small (it’s Paris!) and basic but served its purpose. A clean comfortable bed, a shower with excellent water pressure and abundant hot water, and our particular room had a nice view with two Juliet balconies (one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom.) Our room also had enough power outlets for all our devices (this is a pet peeve of mine at some European hotels.) There was also a mini fridge with two complimentary bottles of water in it, which was greatly appreciated.
IN SUMMARY: This hotel wildly exceeded my expectations. I’ve stayed at several small independent hotels in Paris and have often been disappointed. From the very beginning to the very end we were beyond satisfied. The check out process was also a breeze. I received an email the morning of checkout where I was able to review my folio, pay, and select my preferred check out time. All I needed to do on my way out was hand the key to the reception desk attendant, who also had reserved a...

I had an outstanding stay, with the exceptional service beginning even before I arrived. The virtual room tours on their website gave me a great feel for the rooms, which helped me to send the hotel a room preference email for the 6th floor with a balcony. To my delight upon arrival my room preference was honored! We stayed in room 64. The top floor of the hotel that has a lovely balcony with an Eiffel Tower view. There were two sides to the balcony, with one side opening to the hotel's AC units but still enjoyable nonetheless.
The staff's quick responses to my questions, both via WhatsApp and email, were a highlight of the planning process. Their prompt and clear communication made organizing my trip to Paris easy. This high level of service continued throughout my stay. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely committed to ensuring I had the best possible visit. The hotel’s location in the Latin Quarter is fantastic—quiet yet close to many attractions, with plenty of restaurants just a short walk away. We made full use of the train stations that were all within a 10 minute walk, Cluny - La Sorbonne, Châtelet and Odéon.
The bed was very firm but I slept soundly every night!
Housekeeping was exceptional. Our room was fresh and clean each day!
Pros Fast wi-fi Leaving the key with the friendly front desk Free water, tea and coffee Mini fridge Historic district and landmarks
Cons The provided electric kettle and amazing hairdryer were great, though their short cords required me to sit on the floor to use them.
There is only one side of the bed that had outlets. As a result I had to charge my devices using an external battery.

Read moreExcellent location and exceptionally helpful and kind staff at the front desk. Great communication before we arrived, as we asked for assistance via email in booking some dinner reservations. I would say that this is a 5 star, 3 star hotel. Our room was extremely small, didn’t look anything even close to the photos on the website; we were unable to walk around the bed at the same time, we had to jockey for position, allowing one of us to pass before the other - and we are slim and fit people. Our mattress was extremely hard and thin, but we asked for a mattress pad after our first night, and a wonderful pad was added and made our final 3 nights very comfortable. We also asked for two additional pillows, the foam types, which we also were given which added greatly to our comfort. The staff always sends “WhatsApp” messages asking how they can help to make your stay more pleasurable - respond if you need anything, as the staff is serious about helping you! The room key system is security conscious, in that you are given your key - an actual old school KEY - and have to give it back to the front desk every...
