Le Chalet du 8ème — Restaurant in Paris

Really fantastic, authentic crêpes—reminiscent of the ones I had as a child in Paris. Unfortunately, the customer service was lacking and could be interpreted as subliminally racist.

My friend and I walked in and sat down, but we weren’t acknowledged or greeted. After waiting for a while, my friend went to ask about placing an order and was rudely told by the female waiter, “Didn’t someone attend to you when you entered?” (It’s a small restaurant, and there was no one at the door when we arrived.)

My friend, understandably upset, chose to leave. I stayed—I had more patience and was really craving a good crêpe. Eventually, I was served, the food came out very quickly once I ordered, a pleasant surprise. Je ne recommande pas ce restaurant. La première fois que nous sommes venus, nous avons été désagréablement éconduits sous prétexte qu'il fallait réserver. Déçus mais compréhensifs, nous avons fait une réservation pour quatre personnes pour une deuxième tentative. Cependant, à notre arrivée, nous avons constaté que notre table avait été donnée à d'autres sans aucune explication ni excuse. Le manque de professionnalisme et de considération pour les clients est choquant. Malheureusement, je ne peux pas donner d'avis sur la cuisine, car nous n'avons jamais eu l'occasion de la goûter en raison de leur désorganisation. Cela dit, de manière objective, l'endroit semble animé et assez convivial, mais cette ambiance semble davantage liée à la clientèle — des groupes d'amis qui s’amusent — qu'à un véritable effort de la part de l’établissement ou du personnel. Le lieu est très bruyant, ce qui n'en fait probablement pas le meilleur choix si vous recherchez un cadre formel ou professionnel.

I would not recommend this restaurant. The first time we visited, we were rudely turned away and told that a reservation was required. Disappointed but understanding, we made a reservation for four people on our second attempt. However, when we arrived on time, we discovered that our table had been given to someone else without any explanation or apology. The lack of professionalism and customer care was shocking. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the food, as we never had the chance to try it due to their disorganization. That being said, objectively, the place seems lively and fairly welcoming, but this atmosphere is more due to the clientele—groups of friends enjoying themselves—rather than any effort from the establishment or staff. Lovely homey small restaurant. With a very big heart! the savory buckwheat crepe was generous sized. I had the one with four cheese and ham and my husband had the one with ham cheese basil and tomatoes. We also ordered the salade vert for each which was a nice addition. The other salads are huge.
