Le Jip's — Restaurant in Paris

first of all the ambience is decent. it does a good job of making one feel like they’re in the “afro-cuban” countries they try to emulate. But the good things end there.

The menu is way too expensive for the type of food they make. we paid almost 70 € for two dishes, dessert and cocktails. In another restaurant the price would be fine but not this one. one of the dishes was just rice and beef, the other steak and fries. (25€ each!) the steak was burnt, dry and chewy. the fries were bland and very uninteresting. And i’ve tried mcdonalds :(

the menu is also not diverse at all with barely any vegetarian options, which is a shame because the countries they try to emulate have some of the best vegetable-only cuisine in the world.

and finally, as others have said, the cocktails are pretty diluted and inconsistent. my cocktail was so diluted i wished i’d just bought ice tea from aldi.

the dessert was ok. definitely not worth the price though. lastly i got nausea and a stomachache right after eating this mess and paying so much for it. i honestly feel so wasted.

i’ll have to leave one star. never in my life have i felt so scammed after leaving a restaurant. I wish i could turn back time and go to the next one, but this is the best i can do. Please improve, you can do so...

Even 1 star is way to much for this place - it is a disaster! We were two, going there for an early dinner on Monday evening, so not the busiest time. And it was the worse experience we had during a whole week in Paris - the kitchen is very slow and the service extremely disorganized: they messed up the order and after more than 30 minutes of waiting they served us two different dishes from what we had ordered. To get the right ones we had to wait another 20+ minutes. they served us drinks (nothing fancy, just water!) only after we already had food on the table and it took me to remind them several times that we were still waiting for it. after we finished the main course, they cleaned only one plate from the table and after approx. 15 minutes of not paying attention to us they brought us the bill - without being asked for it! - and without serving us a pre-ordered dessert.

There is so many nice restaurants around, with tasty food and professional, organized staff - it is better to go there and avoid this terrible place. I wish we knew it before wasting our evening...

Très très mauvaise expérience. Avec ma petite sœur on s’est déplacé exprès pour manger à ce restaurant car on s’est aux avis sur internet que c’est un bon endroit. On arrive on est accueilli normalement et on détecte une table à l’extérieur où on voulait bien s’asseoir, je demande poliment à la serveuse (une brune) si elle peut enlever les assiettes qui étaient restées sur la table et elle me répond « vous pouvez vous assoir ailleurs quand même n’abusez pas ». J’insiste que nous préférons nous assoir là-bas surtout parce qu’il y a un parasol pour éviter la pluie s’il pleut. Elle fini donc par débarrasser la table mais ne revient pas pour la nettoyer, la table est restée toute sale du coup on s’est assises à la table juste à côté. Elle passait à côté de nous plusieurs fois sans prendre notre commande en nous ignorant. J’ai dû l’appeler pour qu’elle prenne la commande pour nos verres., j’en ai profité pour demander la carte car on voulait surtout manger (elle n’a pas pris la peine de nous le proposer). On a fait notre choix et on la regarde pour lui montrer qu’on a fait notre choix mais elle venait pas prendre notre commande, elle faisait comme si elle était très occupé et nous voyait pas. Ensuite un groupe de personnes (blanches) entrent dans le restaurant et se posent juste à côté de nous, ils se sont à peine installés et la serveuse a pris directement leur commande (boissons et plats), elle était toute enthousiaste, serviable et dynamiques avec eux. Elle a pris leur commande, et n’est pas venu prendre la notre, elle est restée début à l’intérieur sans rien faire d’autre. On a finis nos verres moi et ma sœur et on est partis manger dans un autre restaurant. On a jamais sentis autant de mépris, surtout venant d’un...
