Got a table here at opening time. We were greeted with a warm welcome and got a lovely window table. Service was fast and friendly throughout.
Our calamari starter was a sign of things to come, delicate, well seasoned and delicious. We opted for one of the cheaper bottles of Bordeaux on the menu but it was good quality. They were not stingy with the bread, twice replacing it and insisting we had some for the main.
I opted for the octopus and pork belly which was beautifully presented and one of the most delicious meals I've ever had. Simple flavours but expertly combined, not fussy at all. Both meats were excellently cooked.
My partner had the beef steak with potato gratin, which tasted great but wasn't as impressive in its presentation. Some vegetables would have been a welcome addition.
There was a slight mix up with dessert, but I put that down to my poor french. One server speaks fluent English, the other brings the more authentic experience. We were happy with what we were served regardless. The desserts were good, but nothing to write home about.
We paid about €140 for a shared starter, mains, wine and dessert which we felt was reasonable considering the quality of cooking. We would...
Read moreRarely bother to leave reviews but this one deserves it. Five entrees on the menu. When we sit down, we were told one is not available. Tres bon. By the time we order another one is gone. I guess they are running just in time inventory. We order the fish. Wait 40 min. The waiter comes out and says they ran out of the fish we ordered. I get angry about the wait time. Miraculously there are three fish available after all. Now I am worried they will give me the house special- so I stand by the kitchen to watch them. The “chef” is handling the food without gloves. Like picks it up with his fingers and sets it on the plates. I guess sometimes it’s better not too see how the sausage gets made. Then the waiter says: we did not charge you for the water and the soups. Ok that’s nice. But I still need to see the itemized bill to split it with my friends. He says see- no soups and water. We say - what is that 22 euro times 3 thing? He says: the beer. Well that can’t be… so he comes back with 20 euros in small denominations - here take my tips… wait what? He says it’s not my fault, the beers have no price printed, let me show you on the computer. Ok show me. Not...
Read moreThe receptionist of the hotel that we in introduced this place for us. The place is just around the Rue Washington Paris. It just walked in distance from our hotel. We've been missed the place as we walked past it because we couldn't see anywhere the name of the restaurant. We had to asked few people around the place and as hard as anything because mostly France people doesn't speak English very well. But we finally found it by asking one very kind lady who work at the nearest hotel and speak quite good English.
We need to walked slowly and look carefully at the place and still almost passed it again. The name of the restaurant only appears on the menu that they put outside of the restaurant with very small letters and fancy font.
We came a bit early as they only open at 700pm, but they let us in. The food was good and the waiter was friendly enough to recommended good wine to my...
