Greetings by the staff is very joyful. They ask where everyone is from when entering the restaurant to know which language to speak . Then they remember it when passing through table to entertain a bit of "localized small talk" that makes everyone feels welcomed.
There is a small selection of galettes and crêpes but they all are prepared with fresh ingredients. The galettes gourmandes are more generous and they are very good. The "Raclette" and "Norwegian" are great. Well balanced taste and portions. Which leaves room for the sweet crêpes.
They have a surprisingly good amount of home made stuff: Apple Juice, Chocolate, Caramel and Chantilly. Their signature crêpe has a good mix of Caramel Salé, Chantilly, Cookie Crumbles and Chocolate. It is delicious.
The place is brand new, they made a great effort at making everything tip too. It is clean and comfortable. I look forward to see the place builds a bit more character over time to make it feel more special. There might be a bit of effort that can be made to damper the nois with adequate acoustics treatment and choose a better play list that can play a bit quieter. (I'm nitpicking here )
Price wise, we paid around 40euros for 2 people. We had 2 galettes gourmandes + 1 side salad, 2 crêpes dessert and a drink. While it is more expensive than your average crepe kiosk, the quality of the ingredients, the recipe and the experience are align with what you pay.
We will come back !
Great food, great people...
Read moreThe Bretons Freres was awesome. We had dinner galettes and dessert crepes. They make a lot of their food: homemade chocolate, homemade caramel, homemade whipped cream and homemade mustard sauce. Our kids had ham and cheese and said they were really good. We had sausage and it was good as well. We loved the roasted potatoes with the mustard sauce. We ended up ordering a second bowl. I ate a lot of mustard sauce, it was so good. We got a variety of dessert crepes and sampled each other’s. The homemade chocolate and caramel were delicious. I had the seasonal crepe which was chocolate, strawberries and homemade whipped cream. We also tried the homemade caramel and oatmeal cookie crepe. It was yummy too. The service was wonderful even though they were busy. Our server was very helpful and enthusiastic. We also bought a small jar of homemade caramel to enjoy at home. Highly recommend having a meal here. It was...
Read moreI was really hoping for a charming Parisian-style creperie. The ambience just didn’t match the vibe I expected, it was a bit loud and hectic, and right on a busy street, which took away from any sense of relaxation.
As for the crepes themselves, they were a letdown. Not a crepe expert here but the texture was soft and pancake-like, without the light crispness a good crepe should have. The toppings felt haphazard, piled on without care or balance. One savory crepe came overloaded with goat cheese, to the point where it was unpleasant. Overall, it felt like quantity over quality.
The staff was friendly, but unfortunately that’s the only highlight. I...
