Les Négociants — Restaurant in Paris

Normally i never leave bad reviews but this was just not a good experience. I thought les négociants was going to be a good choice for me and a friend to get a nice petit déjeuner. When i came in I was met by a lady who I asked about the options. She told me to sit and as I did, another blonde lady came to ask what do i want abruptly. As I only speak limited french I asked Parlez vous Anglais to which she responded no and said 'only in French'. She started to smile as I struggled to ask for a breakfast menu as I was waiting for my friend to arrive. She said in French the menu is outside you can look there which i thought was not good service but okay as i was already seated. So i asked for an orange pressé and she kept saying un café to which i replied 'juste un orange pressé' as i dont drink coffee. Then she brought me an expresso and walked away back to cleaning the coffee station. After this i decided i didnt want to stay as this person had made me feel really uncomfortable and i went to the counter, asked for a 'to go' cup, paid for my order then left immediately even though i knew i wouldn't drink it. I hope a better experience will be given to others. As a new person in Paris having just relocated from the UK I will have to find another place to bring...

06/11 Really lovely place, the decor is retro and I love it, the location is central and near the metro! The waiters, are polite and efficient no snotty attitude here just hard working knowledgeable professionals. Went there twice both occasions were wonderful, first time was for drinks and a mixed platter in the evening (great value by the way with a good selection of charcuterie and cheeses very well presented) and second time was for lunch (goats cheese salad was generous and tasty, my mother devoured the chicken and little pasta parcels filled with creamy cheese, highly recommend both dishes). Service is fantastic, food tastes great! I will be returning when I'm back in Paris...

Habitant le quartier, je fréquente cet endroit régulièrement pour boire un verre et de temps en temps pour manger. Dans l’ensemble toujours plutôt satisfaite mais là ça fait 2 fois de suite que je tombe sur le même serveur insupportable! La 1ere fois : souffle et râle lorsqu’on lui demande du pain puis de l’eau, bah oui vous auriez pu demander les 2 en même temps ça m’aurait évité un aller retour (on l’aurait fait si vous étiez resté plus de 10 secondes et si vous nous aviez écouté au lieu de repartir avant même la fin de note phrase!). Et puis c’est un peu la base durant un repas nan le pain et l’eau?! Je vous raconte même pas la réaction quand on a fini la 1ere carafe et qu’on en a redemandé! Ni souriant, ni aimable durant tout le repas.

La seconde : on demande des précisions par rapport à la carte notamment le vin on nous répond « j’en sais rien moi je bois pas d’alcool » ok mais ça ne vous empêche pas de pouvoir renseigner les clients car c’est votre métier en faite! Ensuite on demande d’avoir un peu de salade verte. On nous le refuse, Ah non on peut demander de la salade uniquement lorsque ce sont des frites (là c’était des pommes de terres grenailles). Service du vin à l’arrache, merci les éclaboussures, heureusement nos fringues ont été épargnées… Service brusque!

Ces deux fois j’étais avec des personnes différentes et pourtant tout le monde partage le même ressenti : on a l’impression de déranger, on est pas à l’aise. La seconde fois nous avions même faillit partir dès lors qu’on s’est fait envoyer bouler par rapport à la carte. Nos voisins de la table d’à côté ont eu beaucoup plus de chance avec un serveur posé, souriant, qui prenait le temps d’être à leur écoute ce qui n’a pas été notre cas.

Bref je pense aller chez la concurrence dorénavant. C’est peut être moins bon, la déco moins jolie mais on y est beaucoup mieux accueillis! Vous devriez revoir...
