LIZARD — Restaurant in Paris

A really pleasant space, with exposed original brickwork, a stylish iron mezzanine, and full height sliding windows, which open up the bar in warm summer weather, onto a quiet Marais side-street.

The music creates a good atmosphere, with a good change of mood as the busy evening extends into a chill-out late night vibe. [Warning: there are screens for sport, which become the focus of attention during big games.]

Great beer and wide choice of cocktails. I particularly enjoyed the Scottish IPA, brewed in the American hop-monster style, bursting with flavour and citrus sharpness, which was perfectly refreshingly in the summer heat. My partner enjoyed the 'Dark & Stormy' rum cocktail.

But I still haven't mentioned the best feature: the bar staff. Quite honestly they are the best we met during our time in Paris, with a rare combination of politeness, accuracy and efficiency. They were also friendly and chatty, when there was a lull at the bar. This really is very unusual in Paris, where aloofness, condescension, rudeness and incompetence normally...

Unpretentious, cozy and friendly are some of the main selling points for this small bar in le Marais where the appeal is all down to the atmosphere. It’s so laid-back that even the notoriously uptight Parisians behave as if they’re relaxing in the comfort of their own homes. The cheerful young bartenders hail from all corners of the globe and look happy to be there, while the genial Irish owner chats away contentedly with his customers. As well as space for about a dozen tables downstairs, there is also a small upstairs section. The music is pleasant but not overbearing, and consists mainly of pop and some light rock music. In the vaulted cellars below, there’s a bar with several interconnected rooms where melody-heavy grooves, mirror balls and colored lights combine to create a party atmosphere. Having been sufficiently mellowed out by the convivial atmosphere at the Lizard Lounge, you’ll be ready to immerse yourself in the more energetic, late night nightlife le Marais...

The atmosphere at LIZARD bar is undeniably fantastic. It exudes a vibrant and lively energy that instantly sets the mood for a great time. The eclectic crowd and lively ambiance create a unique and enjoyable vibe that's perfect for a night out.

However, it was a bit crowded, probably because we went during peak hours.

The highlight of the evening was the excellent selection of shots and drinks. LIZARD bar certainly knows how to cater to its patrons with a diverse and enticing drink menu. It's the kind of place where you can unwind and indulge in quality libations.
