Grilled meats is the name of the game here.
We got the grilled avocado salad, beetroot hummus, pork loin and flank steak.
The good: The hummus was insanely delicious - smooth, creamy, savory and well balanced. Was considering ordering another one on the spot. It's definitely one of the best hummus' I've eaten to date.
My pork dish was phenomenal. The BBQ isn't your typical "American" style BBQ sauce. Instead, it's like a slow roasted tomato jam with a salsa Verde consistency. It had crazy good flavor and a balance of savory/sweet that accompanies the meat very well. I was putting the BBQ sauce on everything.
The bad: Our main meals arrived to the table lukewarm which was a bummer, but with the rush of diners coming in, it was a little hectic and the timing wasn't ideal but understandable.
I will definitely add LOMBEM to my Paris eatery list and recommend anyone in the area to check it out for some authentic Paris eating.
Bonus tips: try to make a reservation if you plan on eating here and check out their speakeasy in...
Read moreDining out with children while visiting Paris can be a tricky balancing act. Add a vegetarian requirement and the challenges are increased. If you love bistro but not the fin-de-siecle vibe, your options go from 100 to very few. We arrived unfashionably early at Lombem due to an eye-wateringly early flight the next morning. No problem; we were warmly welcomed into the stylish dining room (lovely furniture here for the mid century furniture enthusiast.). A great menu for the veggie and carnivore alike. Really great drinks options, v well considered: cocktails and quality organic wines, and quality soft drinks. We had fantastic veggie burgers, an amazing grilled veggie salad and a full meat burger which lived up to the Lombem meat credentials. The girls said they were the best homestyle fries they had ever had. I was slightly hurt, but it was hard to disagree! All very reasonably priced. Can't recommend it more, we'll come back next time we're in...
Read moreTucked away in the Passage des Panoramas, we happened upon this lovely restaurant on a rainy afternoon in Paris. It was excellent! The service was friendly, helpful and kind. Our server (on our first trip) spoke excellent English and helped us in every way. The Casear Salads we ordered with grilled avocado and the most extraordinary dressing were out of this world. They were so good, in fact, we had to return 2 days later. With all the amazing places to eat in Paris, this should tell you something! While not adventurous, we ordered the exact same salad and were not disappointed. Our waiter the second time was even friendlier, also spoke excellent English (and politely suffered our struggling French) and offered helpful suggestions for other things to do while in Paris. He made us feel at home and took time to explain things on the menu, and general questions about France and Parisians. We love Lombem, and recommend it without...
