Title: Disappointing Experience at Hoxton Cafe
I recently had a rather disappointing experience at Hoxton Cafe, and I feel compelled to share my feedback, especially since this has been my worst encounter in an otherwise pleasant café. I am a frequent customer, visiting at least three times a week, and I've always appreciated the friendly and accommodating staff. However, my recent visit was marred by an encounter with a waitress named Brigitte.
Upon entering the café, I ordered my usual hot chocolate from a different waiter who was exceptionally polite and friendly. However, it seemed that there was a shift change during my visit, and Brigitte 330030061 took over. I went to the bathroom, and upon my return, I noticed my drink was missing.
Approaching Brigitte, I politely informed her that I believed someone might have taken my hot chocolate. Instead of offering assistance or trying to resolve the situation, she bluntly admitted to taking my drink and claimed that I had already finished it. I was surprised by her response, as I was certain I had not consumed the entire beverage. Trying not to escalate the situation, I accepted her explanation.
A few minutes later, Brigitte returned with a cup, insisting that it was my finished drink. Although uncertain, I agreed without further dispute. What troubled me the most was Brigitte's apparent displeasure and her angry demeanor throughout the interaction. As a regular customer, I was taken aback by her lack of respect and professionalism.
Later, when it was time to settle the bill, Brigitte processed the payment without a word of gratitude or even the common courtesy of asking if I needed a receipt. This lack of basic customer service left me feeling unappreciated and dissatisfied, contrasting starkly with the positive experiences I have had with other waitstaff at Hoxton Cafe.
While I understand that misunderstandings can occur, I hope this feedback is taken seriously by the management. I believe it is essential for all staff, including Brigitte, to uphold the high standard of customer service that I have come to expect from Hoxton Cafe. I sincerely hope my future visits will be more in line with the enjoyable experiences I have had in the past. Thank you for considering...

Went to Rivié with friends for diner. The place is within the Hoxton hotel. They have several rooms. The architecture and design is very well put. The patio outside is beautiful during summer to enjoy a drink. It is for sure a nice place.
When it comes to food… First, service : looks like they were understaffed (management should hire more I guess) because it was very slow, all the time. Maybe it’s also the time of the year… I don’t know. It was just slow. Not a big deal tho.
Food : you have to pay extra to get… a side. Dishes come just on their own. Can we stop not including sides within dishes so you must charge extra to order French fries or whatever ? A beef tartare shouldn’t come without a side. Not at that price ! You shouldn’t pay extra to get side with that. Example : A beef tartare at 26€ + 7€ French fries ? 33€ ?! That is a big no. Way too expensive for a beef tartare. (Average price in Paris, even for really good beef tartare : 17€).
I got the octopus, and it was frankly average. The French fries (7€) were soggy… so 39€ for a poor meal is not ok. It’s way too overpriced. Quality is not here. I’m disappointed. Cockerel and bone marrow were ok said my friends.
I get it, it’s part of a nice hotel, but it’s not an excuse to overcharge meals that are not supposed to be complicated or fancy.
I really hope quality/price will improve. Because it is such a nice place to have diner… Diner was bad, Rivié is way better...
Read moreThe service is usually very slow, as has been mentioned here previously. I still go there once or twice a week because I like the ambiance. However, they seem not to have advised their waiters to show the minimum courtesy and after today, I will not recommend anyone to go there: I ask for a green tea sencha, the tea arrives 20 minutes later and I realize that the waitress brought me a peach rooibos. I kindly ask her if she can exchange it since I asked for a green tea. She tells me, "madame, c'est un thé vert (this is a green tea)". I repeat it is a peach rooibos and not a green tea. She now gets loud and tells me very aggressively " Dont teach me my job, this is a green tea". I remain calm and tell her if their green tea is a peach rooibos, then I dont want to have the tea. She keeps on arguing that rooibos is green tea. I then ask her if she can tell me her name, which she refuses. She tells me "Vous êtes vraiment désagréable ! (You are very unpleasant!)" and disappears. I am shocked and having a difficult time understanding why this waitress gets so rude and aggressive because I wanted to have what I ordered. 5 minutes later she comes back and throws a tea bag on the table and tells me "vous êtes pas chez vous ici" ( you are not at home here). I go to the host and tell them that I'd like to talk to the menager, the host tells me that the menager is in a meeting (!). Is this the new standard of hospitality...
