Vacation's Over – Paris Eats Roundup

I’ve jogged past this restaurant on Rue du Cherche-Midi, not far from Le Bon Marché, several times. The name caught my attention every time (perhaps food cravings during my workout played a role!). Last Thursday, I finally had the chance to try it with a friend originally from Singapore. I’ve always believed that Paris is best for Vietnamese food and Germany for Thai, but this place changed my perspective. The quality of the food was outstanding and simply delicious! This has officially become my favorite Thai spot in Paris. The waitstaff were friendly and patient as we carefully considered the menu. It wasn’t too cold that day, so we chose to sit on the terrace, surrounded by the bustling vibe of 6th Arrondissement shoppers. We both opted for the lunch menu, which includes an entrée and a main - great value for money! For starters, we both went for the vermicelli salad; mine was with shrimp (SALADE DE VERMICELLES AUX CREVETTES), while my friend had the stir-fried chicken with Thai basil (POULET SAUTÉ AU BASILIC THAÏ). For my main course, I chose their signature dish, the Crying Tiger, after much debate with myself over getting the Pad Thai. The presentation was just like in their photos - generous portions and even more flavorful than I expected. This is a place I’d happily return to, eager to try more of their dishes. Highly recommended!

What an incredible experience – from the food to the atmosphere to the service, I wholeheartedly give it a thumbs up. I had been eager to visit this place for quite some time, and although it was a Tuesday and we hadn't made a reservation, we were surprised to find the place packed. Nonetheless, the waiter kindly asked us to wait at the bar for a few minutes and managed to seat us in no time. The menu was straightforward, so we decided to share multiple dishes to sample as much as possible. We opted for a Thai beef salad, Vegetable Pad Thai noodles, Green beef curry, Yellow curry with shrimps, and a crying tiger marinated beef. Each dish exceeded our expectations, and I won't delve into lengthy descriptions as I would rate them all above 8/10. However, if I had to pick two winners, they would be the Thai beef salad and the green curry. This place has officially become my go-to spot for Thai cuisine.

Now I know why the tiger is crying…

Had wanted to try this place for a while as often looks busy when we walk past. The food was really excellent, one of the best pad Thai I’ve had outside of Thailand, and the staff were all super friendly.

However, we went Saturday lunch time so it was fairly busy, and this meant our drinks took ages to come (it turns out the order wasn’t put through), we had to ask 3 times for water, a broken glass bottle wasn’t cleaned up right away (so there were people stepping over broken glass to get in/out and I was worried about all the little dogs walking past haha!). Being fussy, the beer needed to be a fair bit colder or served in a frosty glass.

That being said, all in all it’s a great location with lots of outside seating, serving top notch Thai food and just a few too many little niggles to be a 5 star experience in my...
