Coeliacs avoid! They have zero knowledge about gluten free.

I have mixed feelings about this place as I want to give it both a low and a high score. I will start by saying I'm gluten sensitive, I can eat gluten but it does give me stomach cramps and bloating. I am not a diagnosed coeliac so I am not as careful with avoiding gluten. I came to this restaurant and asked the waitress if they served gluten free pasta. She said they did, and I was surprised so I checked twice in both English and French to make sure I was understood. She confirmed they definitely do. I ordered a pappardelle pasta which came out as spaghetti, so I just assumed that was the only one they did gf. I said to my partner "wow this is delicious for gf, it tastes like normal pasta." I was happy and did not feel sick afterwards.

A couple days later we returned and the waiter told me they do not do gf pasta and they never have. I said that I had eaten it there previously. He checked with the head chef and said they definitely do not do gf. All of their pasta is homemade and fresh which might be the reason I did not react to the pasta.

This is all fine for me as I was not glutened, however, it is disgraceful the waitress could get it so wrong after multiple checks, and then the restaurant could be so flippant afterwards. This could have been way worse if a customer who was coeliac or allergic to gluten ate in this establishment. It is a serious medical issue for many, and all of their staff need to be properly informed. They were just lucky someone gluten sensitive got the pasta.

Very poor experience unfortunately, first of all just could not get any service, when we did eventually it was to tell us to move two tables over because we wanted food, and before we could order they left. When they finally came back we still hadn’t ordered a drink after 20 minutes, as it was a special occasion we got a bottle of champagne which fortunately I tried as it had not been chilled and was warm, when I suggested we didn’t want it they suggested an ice bucket!!! We ordered several plates of food including burratta, duck and a few others, very average, poorly seasoned and tasteless, French fries were soggy. Plus points, lovely spot on the square and although we didn’t have one the pizzas did look good, my advice the next day we went to a tiny little traditional French restaurant around the corner which was a 2 minute walk and the food was off the scale good as was the service...

This place is really underrated, the service is great and fast, the waiter that I always encounter has the best mood and keeps on singing great funny songs while working. He’s fully respectful responsive, friendly and most importantly fast. The plates there are incredibly big and in my opinion I would say; price, quantity, and quality its insanely great for an Italian restaurant in the heart of the place de capitole in Toulouse. I have personally tried all their pizzas and even some of their plates (faux filet, Milanese, entrecôte, and salmon pasta) all of these were amazingly tasteful and delicious, I really believe that it’s underrated and people should really give it a try even for more than their pizzas and pasta which Italians are mostly known for.
