Troika Royale — Restaurant in Toulouse

I have been wanting to eat here for over 2yrs and I finally got my chance on Saturday. I will not wait another 2yrs to eat here again. Food fantastic, service friendly and warm. We squeezed through the packed and cosy restaurant and into our seat. I have never eaten Georgian food and WOW! I was not disappointed. The welcome and service were friendly and the food fresh and full of flavour. Starting with a lovely fresh Russian beer we chose a share platter and a glass of Georgian red wine. The wine was big, fruity and bold. The flavours in the food were a mix Turkish, Greek and even Indian. Subtle and well balanced. The Borscht had me addicted from the first spoonful. Finishing with a Georgian Cognac (brandy) and a homemade cheesecake the emptiness in my soul- which I didn't know I had- was now filled. À la recherche de cuisine russe (slave, de manière générale), je suis atterri ici par hasard. Et qu'il fait bien les choses ! Excellent accueil, l'on y est bien reçu, toute l'équipe est souriante, ambiance très agréable et bien évidemment ... le repas était excellent, un petit mais copieux borscht, et des khinkalis pour ma part. Je n'avais plus de place ce jour-là pour un dessert, mais les gâteaux sont faits maison et l'attention qui leur est portée est plus que respectable, ils ont l'air délicieux et je reviendrai le confirmer ! La seule chose que j'aurais apprécié est une carte plus fournie en spécialités slaves, il y en a vraiment peu, mais je dois admettre que ce qu'il y a, est bien maîtrisé ! Le restaurant est un peu petit (mais un grand groupe était là, ce qui influe peut-être ma perception du nombre de places), ce n'est pas un reproche, le lieu est très agréable, mais pensez donc à réserver si possible. J'allais oublier ! De vraies vodka russes sont servies également, je n'en ai pas pris mais j'ai pu voir de la Beluga et Legend of Kremlin notamment, qui sont deux vodkas que j'affectionne beaucoup ! Si vous n'aimez pas la vodka que l'on connaît ici, je vous invite malgré tout fortement à tester la Beluga, tous ceux à qui je l'ai fait goûter, et disant ne pas aimer la vodka, l'ont aimé et étaient surpris du très bon goût, n'ayant rien à voir avec la "vodka" vendue en général en France. Absolutely delicious — both the hot dishes (very good Armenian/Georgian/Russian cuisine) and the cakes. There’s a constant queue of people getting their preordered cakes for special occasions and I’m not surprised!
