Terrible service and a rip off. Service horrible et arnaque. The restaurant was not very busy but we waited 20 minutes for somebody to even come take our order, then another 30 minutes for any of the food to come. We would have left but restaurants were starting to close elsewhere so we did not have many options. My partner ordered a glass of wine and we had to ask for it multiple times... we were then charged for two glasses of wine instead of one. All of the other tables were provided bottles of water upon seating, we had to get up and ask for one since the waiters barely looked our way. Finally, due to how long it took for food to get to us, we had to leave before finishing our meals... we asked for boxes, and asked to take both of our meals. They took our plates back to pack them. When we got home, one of the meals (a salad) was missing completely, and the other (rougail saucisse) was only 1/3 of what had been left on the plate. The food was decent and would have been good value for the price, but the service leaves much to be desired. We didn't speak French well and had difficulty ordering, so maybe they took issue with that. Reviews seem to be generally good, so not sure where we went wrong. From our experience, we would...

Unfortunately they were not accepting card/CB payments when I visited (July '22).
To start I had the Gazpacho, which was lovely and refreshing against the summer heat, and packed full of flavour.
To follow, I ordered the most wintery dish you can. A bowl of Cassoulet. I had heard a lot about it, and could not miss the opportunity to try the Cassoulet at La Gouaille. The first bite brought a beaming smile to my face. It was amazing and I highly recommend it.
The chocolate cake finished off the course, paired with some lovely vanilla ice cream.
I also ordered a beer, even though there was a very large selection of wines to choose from.
All this for €25 meant I left the place feeling very happy. The atmosphere is nice. Family run feeling with nice ambient...

Food wise, we got a steak that we couldn't cut, let alone chew and a stew that was pretty blunt. We had to go through the kitchen to be seated which obviously isn't hygienic at all.
Service wise, they have the rudest staff I have ever come across in a restaurant, you should be ashamed of the stardard you provide. Although they were happy to take a reservation from an English speaking customer, when we got sitted they told us they don't have the time to explain anything and that the menu is on the wall (in French) and demanded that we just make a choice. On top of that the waitresses were very racist for the brief time we were there, addressing us in French when it was obvious we did not know the language!!!
The dinner was on the cheap side but we did left hungry and upset. Rather than reporting this review as fake perhaps you should take notice of the multiple negative reviews that pretty much regurgitate the same thing. Too bad I can't...
