This is tough to write because they did find me a seat even though the restaurant was booked (I did try to make a reservation but didn’t find an option to do so.) and because the staff was all lovely and so welcoming. From the reviews and the warm welcome I felt sure the meal would be quite good and at least interesting. The flavors were unfortunately completely flat. The gratin was a single note without a spark and the squash or pumpkin was not cooked well. The beef dish was actually a bit boring. The meat had no flavor of its own. The cinnamon was misplaced. The dessert was ok but not special and sadly had the same cinnamon as the beef which was not a pleasant continuation. Really surprised that the food was so underwhelming. Finally, while the entry area has a charming feel the section I was in was wedged between the toilet and open kitchen so not so pleasant to hear the chef talking with staff about cleaning bacteria. The combination of the sauces, the vegetables and the meat worked together beautifully. We enjoyed every bite.
