Food : Ordered legume biryani and it was just filled with cauliflower as a filler. Friend ordered chicken biryani and chicken was extremely hard. She couldn’t even eat 1/4th of what she ordered. Yogurt raitha was extremely sweet. Service: Wow! The attitude of the guy was unbelievably bad. He said it is a rule here to order two dishes for two people with empty place he has. So it’s him who decides how much we eat. He doesn’t even acknowledge the complaint and he just gives explanation of how his food is good when it’s really bad.
Atmosphere: Claustrophobic people don’t even come here. It’s damn congested.
Won’t come back ever again!
Part 2! If it’s bad it’s bad. Coz that staff of yours said chicken is different, and he doesn’t know anything about why it’s like this. Do you think my friend ate chicken for the very first time in her life??? If he wasn’t rude I wouldn’t be bothered writing all these. I heard him how he spoke to two french women. He was only rude to Indians with a thank you and that was not okay!
Why don’t other restaurants force us to order more? When someone is trying for the first time and they are not sure of the taste. They wanna try! You can’t just force. You won’t know everyone’s appetite. It’s you who is running the business and it won’t be affected by one customer and that customer won’t have to worry about your bills.
I’m so sorry your chef might have not seen 6 other vegetables you got this morning except cauliflower. Just because I paid for what I ate. I have rights to tell you what I found in my plate. It was few peas and just big big chunks of cauliflower. And I’m allergic to it and I forgot to inform plus I assumed no one would add only cauliflower in legume biryani.
Also respectfully, we come to restaurants with excitement to eat good authentic food. I understand not everyone has tolerance for all Indian food. You can try to make it authentic for Indians who ask for it.
You don’t have to worry about my satisfaction about food sir. I can cook really well. I spoke for what I wasted money on. You better stick to that and also I see how many Indian people have given you bad reviews as well. Should god save you??? So you give bad food to Indians coz you hate them? Imagine how sorry I must be for wasting my money on...
Read moreI visited Restaurant Joshore Road with a friend, expecting a pleasant experience based on previous visits, but it turned out to be incredibly disappointing.
We initially ordered two starters (tandoori momos and aalu chop), one main course (Kolkata Chicken), a naan, and a dessert (mishti doi). But we were quickly informed of an odd policy requiring at least two main courses for two people. My friend, a frequent visitor here, was surprised as she hadn’t encountered this rule even a few weeks ago. The waiter insisted it was a longstanding policy. We felt pressured and had to rethink our entire order.
When we reordered, cutting out the starters and adding another main course, the experience didn’t improve. Despite the change, our main courses took an unusually long time to arrive. We ordered tandoori momos in the meantime, which were delivered cold and the waiter served it almost banging it onto our table. When we asked the waiter to reheat them, he brought the plate back with an obvious attitude. Even then, only most of the momos were warm, with one still cold.
The seating also felt very congested, with barely enough space to sit comfortably, let alone move around or breathe. It made the overall experience feel cramped and uncomfortable.
The naan came to our table before the main courses, and we were told that it was our responsibility to specify we wanted it served with the main course. This was surprising, as it’s usually understood that naan accompanies the main meal. When the tandoori chicken finally arrived, it tasted burnt, with no flavor beyond a burnt char.
At the end of our meal, we wanted to provide feedback, but it was met with denial and dismissiveness. The waiter claimed the two-main-course requirement was simply “information” rather than a strict rule, which contradicted the pressure we felt initially. It felt like our concerns were brushed aside rather than addressed.
This visit shattered the positive impression we previously had of Restaurant Joshore Road. Given the poor service, contradictory information, congested seating, and unprofessional attitude, I doubt I’ll be returning. It’s unfortunate because I’d only heard good things about this...
Read moreWe initially ordered a starter (Samosa), one main course (Vegetable Biryani). But we were informed of an odd policy requiring at least two main courses for two people. I had already visited with my husband and ordered one meal and there was no such policy. I was surprised as I hadn’t encountered this rule even a few weeks ago. The waiter insisted it was a policy plus he also said that one meal is not enough for two (how he can tell if it's enough or not, may be we are not that hungary for two meals) We felt pressured and had to rethink our entire order. Then we ordered one menu and one main course.
The vegetable biryani had almost only cabbage of big flowers. And other meal (chicken biryani) the chicken wsw very hard and not properly cooked and meal was cold. When I asked the waiter that chicken is very hard, he said that it's well cooked and their dealer is changed. He gave us an excuse that had no justification. He had a bad attitude with us and did argue with us and said all vegetables are in it which was a mere lie.
Samosas were good though. I had a good experience at this restaurant in the past but this time I was highly disappointed.
Now he might reply with lame excuses (chicken provider is changed) but that's...
