Le Ducis — Restaurant in Versailles

Came in to grab some dinner before heading back to the train station after visiting Versailles. Our server was really nice, a bit busy because he was handling a group right next to us but despite being busy he gave us a few good recommendations. Because it was busy it was also kind of loud and hard to hear but nobody could really help that. We started out with a few cocktails and then the Fois Gras de Canard Maison - a homemade fois gras with a fig jam. I personally like fois gras and enjoyed this board because it and the fig jam were well-made and I liked that it was served with simple toast, but one of the people in my group didn't like it very much. Basically this is just a heads-up that fois gras can be an acquired taste. For main courses we had the Chicken Burger, the Le Ducis Burger, and the Entrecote Grillee which was the rib steak and the fries. I had the Ducis Burger and it was ok, it was nothing special. The rib steak on the other hand was really good - it was well-cooked and juicy. The chicken burger was good as well, the chicken not too dry. My 1st visit was late evening a week ago, just to have some wine with my colleagues. They ordered duck and beef tartare which turned out to be very satisfying! The service here was fantastic. Staff are cool and friendly. They are ready to be flexible for your needs. 2nd visit was today, Sunday late afternoon. (The advantage of this restaurant is also that they don't close in the late afternoon!) I saw that they offer oysters on the menu of the day which makes sense as they get fresh oysters from the market right next door. I had some (quite an excessive amount actually 😅) oysters with white wine recommended by one of the staffs. Fantastic!!! Highly recommend this restaurant for a lot of reasons. :) Overall great value and quality, great staffs and cool...

Sadly, a tourist trap…I rarely give bad reviews like that but I have to… The staff was friendly but the food was terrible…The “soupe à l’onion gratinée”, was not gratinée as you can see on the picture. This dish is supposed to be very tasty but it was clearly bad quality cheese, the soup had very little taste. The we had the “confit de canard” which is supposed to be tender and juicy. The meat was so dry and hard, and they put some pesto in top…! The potatoes were like the frozen ones you buy at the supermarket…! Such a shame…
