Lately, I have been eating late meals here about once a week. (Khushi takes orders at least till 1030pm.) Tonight I sampled chicken tandoori full ("full" means eight pieces). Very succulent chicken; however, a small minus, not as spicy as I would have wanted. Tandoori chicken followed my usual mutton rogan josh, which was as good as usual. Washed down with mango lassi blended to perfection - the ideal libation after any spicy Indian meal. İn all my earlier visits previously, l have always ordered the same each time: two mutton rogan josh accompanied by steamed rice (usually three sometimes four portions). I have to say that the amount of meat was adequate without too much bone. (That is the reason for the five stars.) Meat was mostly tender but still needed my serrated knife; butter knives brought out to customers are inadequate for the task of excising bone. Ask for very spicy always but sometimes comes out less spicy than desired; accordingly, in those moments, I have added chopped green chili (see photo) and some red chili flakes. Chilis purchased locally - still not spicy for me. However, the gravy is otherwise prepared well and tasted fine. I never found any other item in my multiple previous visits to equal the Rogan Josh in flavour. (Note: the photo of the Rogan Josh was taken after I consumed 80% of the entire quantity of curry and rice and 100% of the green chili.) Servers have changed since my last visit. Gone is the very thin, darked skinned Punjabi waitress; she was very good. Her more ample replacement, who left at 10pm sharp, was not very efficient at taking my order. I sat around waiting to be noticed but, finally, just shouted my order to her; not very couth of me, admittedly, but there appeared to be no other recourse. She came around to repeat, in incredulity, my seemingly amazing order. (Lately, service has improved markedly.) Prices appear to have remained largely unchanged over a long period of time. Food, though not cheap, is reasonably priced with quality ingredients. I cannot vouch for the whole menu but, for what I order on a regular basis, Khushi...
Read moreAvoid. Served us a lassi (yogurt based drink) with rotten milk (tasted like rotten eggs rich in sulfur) and blamed it on "Indian spices," hoping we wouldn't know what Indian food was or tasted like. Unfortunately, we're well versed in chaat and both Northern and Southern Indian cuisine and as far as we know "rotten milk taste" is not given by any spice and especially not Masala spices. He then brought us another one (despite us protesting because who wants more milk product after just swallowing a gulp of turned milk but maybe it was a language barrier issue) with the same spices but magically a sip and a sniff of that yielded no rotten milk taste! Amazing! We didn't drink it, but we were charged anyway. That's fine. It was incentive for us to leave a review to warn others. The rest of the food was mediocre and subpar for Indian food and I would give 2-3 stars. Really fatty curry base on the Korma.
I'm sorry to leave a review like this on a small business who's clearly struggling, but serving spoiled food is inexcusable and especially wrongly blaming your own culture's cuisine instead of owning responsibility is a pitiful act that deserves an apology to your culture and your guests. Hopefully they reform and in the meantime, if you're traveling through Georgia, stick to Trip Advisor reviews (they still show you more touristy places with slightly higher prices, but they've been pretty accurate at least in quality and taste) or talk to the locals because Google Reviews clearly missed the mark here.
Apologies for shedding light to our experience to the small business owner and staff and good luck in the future. We all make mistakes and I hope that others will read our story and give you a second chance and that you will give them a better experience than you did us. We're all learning and growing. Let this be a growth...
Read moreDuring our recent visit to Georgia, we were recommended this restaurant by a lot of Indians. We eventually visited the restaurant on the last day of our trip. The ambience and interiors are good and give you a good Indian vibe. The welcoming was though not too great. As soon as we entered the place with our mineral water bottle, we were asked not to consume it, as per restaurants policy, something which we found very absurd and manipulative. We visited several restaurants in Georgia during our 10 days trip and this was the only place we were forced to buy mineral water at markup prices. On arguing, we were told that this is already written outside and cannot be allowed. We also did not like the manner and tone in which we were told this. As soon as we got on the table, seeing that we had 2 kids, a staff member, very unapologetically took the bottles of salt and pepper that were lying on the table. On asking the reason for it, we were just given an awkward look and no comments. By this time, we had got a feel of the monopolistic behaviors of the staff. We ordered a few dishes from the menu along with a couple of drinks. The drinks were served in shots, and we had to request glasses to mix the drinks and sprite, that was already ordered. The staff seemed to be uncaring and had no idea of the basic requirements. The food was surely tasty and gave a good reminder of Indian taste, the service was unacceptable. Our orders for Roti took multiple reminders. Eventually we could also see that the staff were having their lunch on the side table and our order for roti was yet to be delivered. With the premium that the place charges in the name of Indian food, we found the service not...
