Horrible experience. Apart from an ongoing construction in the hotel which didn't have any effect on rates, I came across even more unpleasant story. I've recently visited Stamba for the 2nd time. First time was last year, I think. It happened so that both times I got the same room - #211. Being in the end of the corridor it bears a huge defect - extremely noisy ventilation in the bathroom which nothing can be done with. As the bathroom door is far from being soundproof when closed this terrible noise makes it difficult to sleep. Although I've pointed out this noise when staying in Stamba for the first time (and I guess, not only me) and hotel administration could hardly have failed to know about this problem, they continued to sell this and other similar rooms on and on. Nothing had been done either to fix this or simply to stop selling substandard rooms. This is absolutely unacceptable in the hotel with basic rates over 300 EUR per night.
Hotel service failed to provide another room saying they were fully booked, so I had to stay and 'enjoy' it.
Later I've got a letter of apology from the hotel's guest relations manager, but neither he nor anybody else offered at least partial refund for inconveniences caused. Although if I were the hotel management and would want to actually remedy the situation I would: (1) issue a full refund and (2) completely stopped offering #211 and similar rooms to clients. Otherwise, it is no more than client relations imitation.
Another inconvenience is breakfast. It ok in terms of quality, but starts from 8 a.m. and normally served quite a long time. So if you are on business and have early meetings you are basically left either without breakfast at all or with a very limited one.
Stamba has a really interesting design and probably they invested quite much to make it, but my impression is that first a good hotel needs to nicely cover basic hotel services, like sound sleeping and convenient eating, and then go for extras like design etc. Also, my personal view is that it is better if the hotel is not redeveloped from something else (from a factory in this case), but rather had been developed as a hotel from the start. It makes people feeling more cozy there.
To sum up, if you want to have no bad surprise and get understandable and predictable service quality I strongly recommend choosing well-known hotel brands and networks which are plenty of in Tbilisi. This will most likely be cheaper as well.
And for Stamba I'd wish them to work hard on achieving good hospitality practices and...
Read moreSpent 5 nights staying in a signature aviator room. Warning as of now (July 2023) major renovations in the lobby bar and the adjacent building are taking place so they are out of use and there is drilling noise during the day.
Pros: beautiful building, design is almost breathtaking.
Bed and sofa are incredibly comfortable. I could (and have) read on the sofa all day.
Well stocked Mini bar, fast room service with a decent late night menu.
Thick velvet curtains that do achieve an almost blackout ideal for sleeping.
The bathtub was large enough for two and comfortable.
Plenty of books in English as well.
I enjoyed the restaurant menu and the fresh juices, Most of which is also available via room service (off menu).
Cons: Bathroom practicality. They don’t have much storage space (mainly an issue if you’re a couple), there is no real lighting only mood lighting so not practical for make up. The shower has this weird all over system which I was not aware of and flooded the bathroom. There is no normal shower head just a rain shower, for women, who don’t always wash their hair daily, this is not ok.
Not at all soundproof. I can audibly hear my neighbours in the next room as well as the outside from the 3rd floor.
The Soundsystem, whilst very expensive, it’s without Bluetooth or wireless capabilities. It’s also very loud and without proper soundproofing in the rooms doesn’t make sense.
Coffee machine is a professional one. Cumbersome, impractical, and there is no milk kept in the fridge either.
No iron in the room. I am sure if I called room service they would have sent one but unfortunately I didn’t realise this until I was in a hurry to leave so good it’s good to keep in mind!
Service is slow in the restaurant. One breakfast my food arrived, then my partners coffee, and once we were done completely with our meals my coffee...
Read moreBeautiful hotel, but a disappointing experience on our wedding day
I chose Stamba Hotel for one of the most important moments of my life — my wedding day and the day after. The design, the ambiance, and the unique vibe of the place made it feel like the perfect backdrop for such a special occasion. Unfortunately, despite being paying guests, we were told we couldn’t take a few simple photos in the hotel with my husband to capture the moment. This was incredibly disappointing, especially given that I specifically chose Stamba for this very reason.
What made it worse was the way the situation was handled. I tried to reach out to the General Manager to kindly ask for an exception or even just a conversation — not only was the reply impersonal and via email, but we were also completely ignored after that. I never received a follow-up or the opportunity to speak in person. Meanwhile, hundreds of tourists walk in and out of the hotel daily just to take “Instagrammable” photos — many not even guests. But we, as actual paying guests celebrating our wedding, were denied a simple request and met with silence. That lack of empathy and personal touch was very hard to accept. Not very nice, Stamba.
On a more positive note, Café Stamba offers great food and a stylish space to enjoy it. The coffee is also good — but be prepared to wait. It sometimes takes 30 to 40 minutes just for a coffee order, so judge that for yourself.
Our room — the Signature Terrace — was absolutely lovely. The outdoor bathtub is a dream and the design details are stunning. Special mention to Lasha at the concierge desk, who was kind, professional, and very helpful throughout our stay.
Stamba is undeniably beautiful, but beauty without heart and hospitality leaves a lasting impression — and not the kind I had hoped for on my...
