We stumbled upon it and I ordered the meat ball option, it was great but the mashed potatoes that came with it was COLD. I couldn’t say anything because the waitress is a bulky shorthair lady who is very intimidating. They had the sign outside which you would get water and espresso included with the meals the water is just a small cup of water, and after the meal when I wanted to ask her for my espresso and before stating my request I just said that I liked the meatball so much (it’s one piece btw) I wish it was 2 pieces! And it was obvious that I said that jokingly and that it was just as compliments to the chef.. but her face changed when I said that so I just proceeded to ask her for my espresso.. idk but it felt that she wanted to kick me out and I regretted making that statement even though I began by complimenting the chef for a delicious meatball! Anyway at the end the espresso was underwhelming as it’s free so don’t expect a true coffee experience and oh right, I had a bottle of fizzy apple juice with me which required a bottle opener so when I asked her for one she said it’s not allowed.. my bro who was with me said it’s obviously not allowed! But idk but if ur charging x20 the price of drinks and x40 the price of food it wouldn’t hurt to bring a juice with me .. maybe she thought it was an alcoholic beer hahah .. anyway I wouldn’t visit again just because of her grumpy energy. I didn’t feel...
Read moreHello all - We have been walking by this place for years - but until now hadn't stopped in to the place to eat. It has always been a busy place over the years. This year we were surprised by the closure of our old favorite so had to hunt for someplace new. Thus we tried Le Bistro. My Lebenspartner recommended the Nürnberger with Sauerkraut - and that turned out to be winner dish. The way they serve it here might be typical - but I found it to be a complete delight - the sausages with the sauerkraut and a little tablespoon sized dollop of mustard (Senf) - worked perfectly together. Other dishes were good but this was the favorite even after six orders over four visits. One note - it is a bit confusing as on the menu it is listed from the PDF with the old price as:
ROSTBRATWÜRSTE mit Sauerkraut & Senf 2 Stück / 4 Stück 8,90 / 10,00
Get 4 Stück (pieces of sausage) unless you are a really light eater - the amount isn't a huge platefull and the sausages are small but wonderful. The price for 4 in May 2013 is 10,90 Euros. On your receipt (Rechnung) it is listed as:
Nürnberger Kraut
The waitstaff will probably know what you are talking about even if it is a bit hard to find on the extensive menu. ...
Read moreI'm not sure if my experience was typical, but this place was a welcome surprise for our two week trip through France and Germany This was a true BISTRO experience ( in that it was lightning fast service), but without any warmth, or attention to detail.... And it was exactly what we wanted for the night. Staff reviews nothing about the menu, we ordered sausages, weinershnitzel, goulash, and cheese spatzle. All were great! No one checked in, no one offered more wine or water, but we were in and out in less than an hour. They talk about a candle lit experience, but we had to get the candles from another table and light them ourselves..... If this was not your intended model for your restaurant, please feel free to respond here. All of the food was impeccable and tasty. A little more expensive than some, but we don't bat an eye at that. They also have an option for the highest tip we have seen in Europe when we paid...again, very happy they told us the former mayor of Baden Baden is...
