Hofcafé — Restaurant in Bamberg

Once upon a time, Hofcafé was one in a series of Bamberg Counter-Culture shops and eateries. It was a bit chaotic, but that was part of the allure, food was plenty and affordable, coffee strong and cheap, and the crowd was students and those who sought refuge from the bustling streets.

Now it's part of the hipster crowd.

The "gluten free" option came with salty sticks, non-gluten free, and was only defined by dry, almost inedible, bread, being tossed into a bread basket that, very clearly, had had other breads in it, as witnessed by the crumbs in the bottom. Oh, and the Nutella? Served in a "we care about the environment but not about your health" baked cup. Again: in a gluten free option!!!

The eggs and roast potato dish was small, the eggs cooked into a rubbery, unseasoned, mess, and the potatoes can't have been more than a small potato in total.

Unfriendly, hurried, service. Expensive, small dishes, even a massive miss on the "gluten free" virtue signal... this isn't a place I'll take my friends.

Sad. There once was a time when Hofcafé was worth the walk and wait. These days... go McDonalds. It's less corporate, less expensive, and tastes better. Oh, and probably...

1 Stern für das Frühstück da es nicht schlecht geschmeckt hat, aber für die aufback Hörnchen die gleichen die ich auch zuhause habe erwarte ich beim frühstücken schon etwas anderes, daraufhin das wir 2 Kaffee bestellt haben und ein lillet und ein aperol - kam die Bedienung mit einem Kaffee und 2 Getränke nun gut kann ja mal passieren bei Nachfrage erhielte ich dann auch meinen Kaffee ,beim lilet Getränk das nicht aussah wie ein lilet Getränk hat man beim probieren gemerkt es war ein Hugo, nungut .. aufs ewiges warten unseres Frühstücks kam dann die Kellnerin hattet ihr noch kein Frühstück ? - nein- sie meinte sie frägt mal nach, daraufhin kam sie sofort mit unserem Frühstück ( das wohl anscheinend einfach nur vorne vergessen wurde abzuholen) das Ende vom Lied wir waren dann einfach nur noch genervt es gab keine Teller , ich hatte den Besteck Teller genommen und mein Freund gar nichts , wir waren einfach nur enttäuscht und hatten keine Lust mehr irgendwas zu sagen ,es ist nicht mal aufgefallen das mein Freund überhaupt kein Teller hatte zudem ist uns dann aufgefallen es fehlen die Säfte auf Nachfrage ob da nicht noch Säfte dabei wären meinte die Bedienung ja das hat wohl die andere Kollegin vergessen ( obwohl sie unser Frühstück brachte) brachte sie dann unsere Säfte! Wir waren einfach nur noch sauer weil wir uns so auf ein Frühstück gefreut haben und uns dieses Café empfohlen wurden ist , ich werde es definitiv nicht weiter empfehlen , schade das man in Bamberg mitlerweile kaum mehr irgendwo gut frühstücken kann wo wirklich alles passt, wir sind nicht kleinlich und stehen über vergessene Sachen drüber kann ja mal passieren aber das gestern war zu viel.. den Hugo der eigentlich ein lilet sein sollte haben wir dann natürlich auch auf eigener Nachfrage mit hin und her nicht bezahlen müssen da es nicht das gewünschte war und leider auf Nachfragen lieber wieder auf die Kollegin geschoben wurde .. sehr schade Und die Bedingungen waren auch nicht unterbesetzt so was vielleicht hätte sagen können ok sie sind im Stress und unterbesetzt aber dies war auch...

If you are looking forward and expecting the “gluten free options available” from the Menu, you should forget it. After one of the waitress went to kitchen and check about this option Eva use she didn’t knew, she came back and said they don’t have any option without gluten. Offering a “normal bread” instead. My wife of course can’t eat it. Another really kind waitress came and offer us some options and handle the situation (really well, honestly) with some another option. If you are in a short time it’s not a good option too. All really slow, around 30 minutes for somebody bring a menu, and then 1 hour to bring the breakfast, this one nothing really...
