Beletage — Restaurant in Berlin

Unfortunately underwhelmed by the Sunday breakfast. When at the Hilton, or any 5-star hotel, you expect a certain standard, especially when it comes to the service. However, when we we arrived, instead of being led to the table, it was free seating and you couldn‘t really tell which table was still available, available again and not yet cleared up, or still taken by people at the buffet. There was no instruction on how drinks and buffet were handled, you had to figure it out by yourself. When you are then seated at the table, instead of a waiter coming to you, you had to get their attention by yourself and they seemed almost annoyed to attend to you. Towards the end of our breakfast, we were already approached by somebody who seemed like the head waiter to tell us that the next round of people will come for lunch at 12pm and that we would need to leave. Since it was still only 11:25am, this felt like an unnecessary rush.

The buffet is continental, lots of options regarding bread, cut cheeses and meats, sweet and savory spreads, a surprisingly large selection of vegetarian, vegan, lactose- and gluten free options. The warm options are almost all ingredients for an English breakfast plus pancakes with maple syrup. Also a large muesli/cereal buffet, plus a lots of yoghurt/quark and fruit options. So one star definitely for the selection and quality of the food. The other star is for the setup of the buffet, there is enough room to walk around even with lots of people and with 2-3 points for getting coffee, water and juice (but this is also brought by the waiters if you ask them). I took off two stars for the definite lack of service of the reception staff at the beginning and end of our visit to the restaurant, which taint the very good impression of the food. Another star taken off for the quite generic design of the restaurant. Don’t be fooled (like me) by the one nice alcove with the bay window - the rest of the restaurant reminds you more of a Holiday Inn than a...

Ich bin einfach enttäuscht, das Buffet war zwar ein an sich ganz gutes Buffet aber für den Preis einfach nicht sein Geld wert, da gibt es wesentlich besseres für viel weniger Geld und ich würde auch mal anfangen sachen vernünftig zu beschriften, ich finde es einfach schade das ich geade bei sachen die nicht klar erkennbar sind raten muss was ich mir den nehme. Beim Personal hatte ich das Gefühl das sofort geguckt wird werde Geld haben könnte und wer nicht und so wird man auch behandelt, bei den Leuten die mach schnösel aussahen waren ständig leute die sie mit Kaffee, extra gemachten Waffeln und allem möglichen versorgt haben und wir wurden nicht ein einziges mal überhaupt gefragt oder irgendwas was zu einem gutem Service gehört. Außerdem wurde das Buffet einfach knap eine halbe stunde vor schluss obwohl noch durchaus ein paar Gäste da waren einfach abgeräumt das man quasi raus geschmissen wurde was sich auch überhaupt nicht gehört. Und was mir persönlich wirklich den Gnadenstoß gegeben hat war das die Kinder von schnöseligen Gästen die ganze zeit um unseren Tisch oder sogar dierekt über Bank an den rücken von uns gerannt sind und das Personal es zwar gesehen hat, aber die Eltern nicht einmal gebeten hat das die Kinder zumindest ein bisschen im Zaum zu halten, aber die sahen ja nach Geld aus und dürfen deswegen natürlich alles, dieses frühstückslokal Symbolliesert perfekt den unterschied wie menschen die die nach Geld aussehen und die das vielleicht nicht tun unterschiedlich behandelt werden. Würde ich für kein Geld der Welt nochmal...

Um es kurz zu machen: nochmal eine Stufe runter im Vergleich zu 2019. Das Buffet hat sich "verkleinert". Vorspeisenqualität war ok, etwas übersichtlicher ist es geworden. Das Carpaccio war leider etwas schwer von der Platte zu nehmen, wenn man nicht aufpasste, hatte man einen riesigen zusammenhängenden Fladen Fleisch auf der Serviergabel. Das hatte ich aber schon vor 2 Jahren an anderer Stelle beschrieben. Man lernt anscheinend nichts aus konstruktiver Kritik.

Räucherfisch leider nur noch ein paar Mini-Rollmöpse in einer Tomatensauce, Gravad Lachs, geräucherte Lachs und die ewig trockene Makrele. Früher gab es noch Shrimps und anderen Räucherfisch (...aber naja früher war ja auch mehr Lametta...)

Italienische Antipasti, ein paar hartgekochte Eier, frischer Salat und irgendwelche asiatisch und vegetarisch-gesund anmutenden Salate (2 zur Auswahl) leider nicht so schön angerichtet, eher wie in der Salatbar beim Supermarkt.

Eine Pilzcremesuppe war ok. Leider gab es keine Alternative hierzu. War auch mal anders...

Käseplatte: durchschnittlich

Warme Gerichte: Gänsekeule war gut und zart. Die Sauce kräftig, Knödel und Rotkohl in Ordnung. Lachs in einer Rahmsauce: Sauce extrem gesalzen, habe vergeblich Reis oder Kartoffeln gesucht. Knödel passen hierzu nicht so sehr.

Dessertbuffet ist etwas übersichtlich geraten, aber es gab eine gute Auswahl.

Fazit: wir sind sehr enttäuscht von diesem Weihnachtsbuffet. Weihnachten sollte es doch eigentlich besonders und stilvoll sein und sich von einem durchschnittlichen Lunchbuffet...
