This is the worst experience I have every had with anothe human being, let alone dining experience.
As we walked in the waitress flung up her hands and said “there is nothing for you here” we were a little stunned and said we didn’t mind waiting to which she replied “well I don’t know how long everyone will be there is no way of knowing” ushering is out. We saw there were a few people sitting at the bar drinking so we asked if we could also sit there and she said “no you cannot sit there we need to get past here” ...it was not in the way but was actually less invasive than the people sitting there already. She turns to anther member of staff and says “we have a commotion out here” throughout this we had remained in a slightly stunned politeness while she failed her arms angrily at us. So we asked if we could come back in a little while and got a sarcastic “well how will I know, I can guess there won’t be anything for you”.
So we came back 20mins later to a next to empty restaurant. As we walked in we got the same frosty welcome “no no no there is nothing they are all booked” so we asked if we could sit outside. As we say outside at least three tables remained empty throughout our meal- one was on the other side of the glass. None of the staff offered to us that we could sit inside, and a few minutes before we left a couple stood and discussed the menu and how they hadn’t booked. However they were sat down with no fuss.
Maybe it was unusual for them to be so rude but it was horrible I wouldn’t wish this...
Read moreI was very satisfied with the service and completely dissatisfied with the cuisine. Let's go in order: I showed up without a reservation on a Saturday around 6.45pm. I was greeted with big smiles and immediately placed at the raised table next to the entrance. Since at least three small tables remained empty during dinner, I would have preferred to be placed there. But the service was truly so excellent and attentive that it made me forget where I was sitting. Unfortunately I was really disappointed by the cuisine. My rinderrouladen looked like the pre-cooked one from the supermarket, but much saltier and stringier. Served with a salad that looked like it had just been taken out of the bag and some anonymous potatoes. I don't like leaving food on my plate, but once the meat was cold, it became the insole of my shoe. I will return and try another course. Maybe I was just unlucky, but from what I see it looks like the cuisine of a classic Berlin...
Read moreKind of a weird-ish vibe? Some may like the folklore, I guess. The server was a bit (very) pushy, not to say rude. Fries seemed frozen/reheated. Goulash was quite dry. The schnitzel..well, it’s really just a schnitzel. Only the bread dumpling surprised me and was quite tasty (that’s the 1 star). But for the price, of course, I wouldn’t particularly recommend this place. Maybe I don’t really understand German food. Finally, the giant still water bottle opened at the speed of light and charged 5 euros at the end of my now very overpriced lunch - when I specifically asked for tap water - really didn’t do it for me. There was just a distinct tourist trap atmosphere there from the start, should have called it earlier.
PS: And yes, I know we tip in Germany. But God no,...
