1 Small Chili Burger (100gm) 1 Sweet Pommes Frites 1 Berliner Pilsner 0.33l (one of Berlin's cheapest beers)5
Total: Just Under 15€
Atmosphere: Outdoor seating and tables, kinda scrappy/shanty, but with a healthy potted flowers on each table. Just a few indoor tables as the establishment is very small. It is located just below and across from the elevated Eberswalder Str U-Bahn station on the very busy Schönhauser Allee with fast automotive traffic, trams, and lots of bikes. Basically, lots and lots of traffic and noise. So be prepared for that.
Beer: It was cold, but it wasn't an exceptional beer by any means.
Fris: Sweet potato fries are served in a nice frying basket, and was the highlight of my meal. They were hot, crunchy outside, and tender inside. Perfect for dipping in the various sauces on offer.
The Burger : Bun was sesame and tasted fresh, but otherwise wasn't eventful. It didn't fall apart despite being overloaded with various toppings.
Toppings included roasted bell pepper, pickled jalapenos, tomato slices, onion, pickles, and lettuce. The beef patty was well done, but juicy. The description says it was supposed to have hot chili sauce and sour cream, but I couldn't see or taste either (it might've been due to a communication barrier though). The beef is said to be organic, so that's a plus, but I also really didn't taste it due to the other toppings on the burger.
If I go back, I'll do a different burger for sure and update...
Read moreI came in with a group of friends - the restaurant was on the smaller side but the man behind the counter was very friendly and able to accommodate us all! As a space, it's not very big but also not cramped, with many fun pictures on the wall. It has a nice vibe! I'm vegan and a friend is gluten free, so it can be difficult to find a place where we can all eat. This worked really well! They've got gluten free buns and vegan tofu sandwiches, in addition to the regular meat and gluten fare. My olive tofu sandwich was very tasty. It's advertised as a burger, but I'd call it more of a sandwich. Still, more than satisfying as a very nice sandwich! The fries were also very very good! All sauces are labelled if gluten free or vegan. Finally, the service was great. The man helping us was very kind and helpful! I haven't had such a good experience as here almost anywhere else in my trip to Berlin yet. Great...
Read moreSlightly underwhelming experience. The service seemed tired and uninterested, and just a bit too berliny with the attitude.
The burgers itself, were for me just ok. The meat wasn't too tasty, it was very saucy and the buns are standard sesame seed buns. With a burger, fries, bottle of water, and sauce, it was €16. I gave a €2 tip, for which I didn't receive any thanks, not even a look in my eyes, as she slammed the €2 change from my 20 back on the table. To be honest I could deal with this kind of attitude perfectly fine, we do live in Berlin after all - but the burger and fries were just simply not really good enough. Plenty of other burgers to eat in Berlin.
For gluten free eaters, could be...
