Terrible Experience - Osman's Töchter Puts Profit Above Hospitality.
Osman's Töchter prioritizes profit above all else, showing a complete disregard for customer satisfaction and hospitality. I cannot recommend it to anyone seeking a pleasant dining experience. Despite making a reservation for my best friend's birthday dinner, our evening was filled with numerous shortcomings that reflect the restaurant's primary focus on profit over hospitality.
The ambiance was far from inviting. The overcrowded seating arrangement, with tables practically touching each other, far from any sense of comfort or intimacy. You can see that the lack of thought in creating an atmosphere resulted in overwhelming noise of multiple conversations echoing throughout the space with no music to be heard. No music curation, no intention to create a vibe.
The service staff had a disregard for basic courtesy, appearing rushed, insensitive, rude. It was apparent that the restaurant may have been understaffed, a plausible explanation for the staff's behaviour. However, this does not excuse their rudeness towards customers.
As individuals with a deep appreciation and familiarity for Anatolian cuisine and mezze culture, (we all grew up in turkey) we were disappointed by the food quality. The dishes lacked authenticity and/or failed to offer any intriguing interpretations as well. Additionally, the portions were extremely small and over-priced - like a mere few tablespoons of cacık (Tzatziki) costing an unjustifiable 7 euros.. outrageous...
One particularly inconsistency was the inclusion of traditional rakı (turkish ouzo), on the menu. This beverage is traditionally enjoyed slowly, in the company of friends and family, alongside a leisurely dinner. However, the restaurant's rush to turn tables contradicted this ritualistic approach, leaving us feeling hurried and unwelcome - as they kicked us out of the restaurant in two hours before we had a chance to finish our food and drinks. (yes, this actually happened.)
In the end, we paid way too much money for a couple mezzes that I would not even touch if they were served in turkey, got treated rudely, forced out of our table before our food and drinks were finished.
I would not go there ever again and absolutely would not recommend anyone to go there. we should be able to get our money's worth in food, service and hospitality. they absolutely have no perception of any!
It is evident that the establishment prioritizes profit margins over the satisfaction of its customers. As someone who values both quality cuisine and genuine hospitality, I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant to others. It's regrettable that we were unable to enjoy our meal and celebration as we had hoped, and I have no intention of returning...
Read moreThe food looks like Turkish traditional food but the taste is very different. Too much spice and unbalanced (I was tasting the cumin in the dishes we have ordered). The portions are small, I mean really small. They're similar in size to a Spanish tapas bar but at least twice the price. The atmosphere is nothing special, it is a bit overcrowded and it feels cheap. There are restaurants can be defined as cozy and warm but this was not like that. However the biggest issue was the service they provided. They're rude and definitely not customer friendly. I'm not an entitled person but after charging twice for two dishes for a group of 8 people, when asked for the receipt to correct it they only brought one receipt and it's not possible to bring all receipts as we paid separately. I'm there trying to help them to figure out their mistake and the waiter condescendingly said he can't bring the basic receipt and it is rare that people pay separately (and this is a restaurant in Berlin, Germany). When we asked the manager hoping they'd correct their mistake, he upped the disrespect and said in their system nothing can be wrong (yes I'm lying) and we need to come to the register. In short, yes their system was not fool proof and the waiter actually messed things up and forgot to register one of the payments and charged everything else to the person paid last. Even after their total screw up manager/owner didn't say even a sorry and mumbled something about paying separately and blamed me for being a little stressed and aggressive. Yes I'm going to be a little aggressive when you accuse me of lying.
In short don't go there, they're hyped by social media and couldn't scale up and become professionals. The food isn't worth the price and spare yourself from a possibility of ending an enjoyable dinner by ending up...
Read moreAs someone who is very familiar to Istanbuls Meze/Raki-Culture and Prenzlauer Berg restaurant scene I tried this place for the first time yesterday.
The food: As a five piece group we tried many different mezes. Some were quite good, ie. hummus with truffle oil or the prawns with pastrami, stuffed wine leaves. Then again some were very mediocre, especially the grilled sea bass(Wolfsbarsch). The very sparse portion came unfortunately cold with a side of so-so tasting sweet potato puree. The lamb shish kebap we ordered had more inedible fat than meat and the lamb chops barely had meat on them, so it was impossible to share as it is praised by the restaurant that sharing is their concept. At a price of 16,90 a plate for these guys, we expected that at least most of us will get a little piece of the pie. :)
The service: In the beginning very friendly, a little chaotic, but friendy. Later, when we didn't like one dish and sent it back, another waiter(or restaurant manager?) came to ask "what's going on". But like literally. Then we got educated by him about the anatomy of lamb. When we thanked for the lesson and said it is not the first time we are having lamb shish kebap, there was still no real understanding for the customer, not to mention a complimentary coffee or a dessert or something which must be usually the case in a restaurant with a good service understanding. He left us with a very awkward and negative energy instead. This is what you get if you expect "too much". No expectations no dissapointments they say, right? ;)
In a nutshell: We unanimously agreed not to come again. We came hungry and we left (still sort of) hungry but feeling awkward, especially after the...
