✅ Staff is very friendly ❌ Bad coffee ❌ Plastic straws ❌ Smoke
I'll start with a good thing, the staff is truly nice and friendly which is very important. Still, when I go to a café, I believe the coffee should be the most important thing.. Unfortunately, that is not the case here. As a steady & daily espresso/coffee drinker, I examined many coffee beans, from many levels of pricing, and even the cheapest one (9.90€ per KG) was in a much better quality than the coffee I got here. I wonder what can be the reason for it.
We ordered the iced coffee and the Americano, and although they both tasted bad, the iced coffee also suffered from old ice after taste (see photo) and a plastic straw
In Berlin 2022, I believe everyone already knows that plastic is bad and should be avoided. Plastic straws are the worst kind and impossible to recycle. It should be possible for a café (with such prices btw) to afford paper straws.
Smoking area outside is, well, Everywhere.. Since the owner placed ashtrays on all the tables, all smokers naturally feel free to sit and smoke and you are only lucky if you manage to find a table in clear air for the short...
Read moreMy family own's a Penthouse near by. I always have breakfast with my wife and children there. The restaurant is owned, managed and employed by a Turkish team. They are fully aware of the Muslim need for Halal food and serve some of the best Turkish breakfast around (as well as the common Turkish choices of Simit and other pastries and preserves). This doesn't mean that they don't excel at western food and drink options... Not at all... They serve the best Latte Macchiato (and other Coffee beverages), Cakes and Pies I have tasted in Germany. Add to that the great service by the friendly Ms. Helal who always surves everyone with a smile and this makes this a popular spot frequented by the young and elderly alike (I visited Berlin in two different occasions and noticed the same clientele frequent the Caffe every day). Note: This Caffe is pet friendly and has facilities such as seperate washrooms for males...
Read moreTypical neighborhood cafe serving mediocre food. The baked goods were beautifully displayed and look tempting but we didnt try any of them. We the Granola €6.50 which was served with very runny yogurt (more like kefir) and few slices of fruits. We had Granola bowls around the city with similar price, this was the least impressive.
The Vegetarian sandwich with avocado €5.80 came with very little ingredients and fillings, maybe just a slice of salad, thin slice of tomato and avocado, thus, you ate more bread than fillings. Then the overly dry Pancake €7.90, even after pouring in the sugar sirup and honey didnt help to soften them.
As for the "latte" which was just macchiato with lots of milk and thick foam, it was weak as expected. Overall, this place charges too much for very little and...
