Very overpriced and small food portions on big plates. The food quality was ok, not great. They are trying to make it feel like a Michelin star restaurant by adding many extra ingredients and making the dishes look fancy, but it’s not reflected as much in the actual taste. For example, their squid appetizer: the squid itself wasn’t bad, but it was literally bitesized, surrounded by too many unnecessary ingredients which didn’t really bring the dish together. The tiny complimentary dish was some sort of ricotta pudding - basically tasteless. The Aubergine appetizer wasn’t bad although, since they’re trying to run an “upscale” restaurant, they need to at least learn the basics: the poached egg was way over cooked, for example, which is a big mistake, especially given their prices. The main pasta dish with salsiccia was ok, nothing special and lacked seasoning. The wine selection is also ok, unless you’d like it by the glass, in which case you only get 2 options, literally. The menu is very small and you’re forced to pick either a 2-course or a 5-course menu. For the cheapest option of a tiny appetizer followed by a small pasta dish (plus a drink each), be prepared to pay over €100 for two people, before tip. And it gets progressively much more expensive from there. Even the bread basket isn’t complimentary! The servers were nice but, with 2-3 tables to be served at an otherwise empty restaurant, the food took way too long to come out. The decor is not bad, but there’s no air conditioning and the fan inside doesn’t help - it’s very hot and stuffy in the summer. In conclusion, this isn’t a fine dining restaurant, to be honest. There are so many cheaper and better Italian restaurants in Berlin! Some advice for the owners: at least add some a la carte dishes to your tiny menu, so that your customers have a few more affordable options; install an AC unit; bring a plate of complimentary bread, instead of some small tasteless half-appetizer. I’ve been all over Italy and generosity, along with simplicity and freshness, are the main traits of Italian cuisine. Domu Nosta seems rather pretentious and I will...
Read moreWe came here for dinner spontaneously and had a great experience from the moment we walked in. Our jackets were immediately taken off us and the service was extremely professional and swift.
We had a great red wine by the glass and only ordered primi and the extra bread (so worth it for the Pane carasau and the excellent olive oil). I was a bit worried we wouldn't be full but for people who prefer to not eat so much in the evening combined with the bread it was actually perfect. To start with they served an amouse boucher, it was a lovely winter vegetable soup.
Now to the pasta: We had the bottarga pasta which is a Sardinian delicacy, so it's hard to get around here and it was very well done, especially for someone who likes a light dish with the typical sea flavor that bottarga brings. The homemade ravioli however were the true star with a sage butter sauce that inspired us to ask for cooking classes because we just had to know how to replicate it. The chef's wife openly admitted that despite trying herself to produce the same result many times, she cannot get it right herself - which probably means none of us can ever learn his magic. When leaving the restaurant we were helped into our jackets which is a gesture I normally only get from intimate friends and the perfect ending to a lovely evening. On the pricier side but definitely worth the money, would...
Read moreI'm going to start by saying that, as an Italian, I am very picky about eating Italian food abroad, but I was very happy with everything at Domu Nosta: from the incredibly pleasant view (the terrace of the restaurant overlooks a very lush park) to the friendly and attentive service, which is not at all common in Berlin (the hostess is also extremely careful with hygiene, disinfection and distancing), to, of course, the food. We didn't eat pasta but a very original dish of duck and polenta, completed by typically German ingredients like Austernpilze and sweet potatoes. The flavour combination was balanced and the dish was delicious, I would have eaten double! We drank a great strong Sardinian red, and delighted at the warm home-made bread basket. We'll...
