I loved this place at first - finally hummus as good as some of the places I like in Israel! However it quickly became very upsetting that even the supposedly "large" hummus is anything but large, barely noticeable difference from the medium and you end up paying between 7 to 11 euros on a rather unsatisfying meal! Not to mention the small hummus which is basically a sample. And if you can't eat pita like me you end coming out of there still starving.
But it's not just the hummus, everything is unreasonably expensive. Majadra (rice and lentils - a side dish usually) will set you back 8 euros. A chicken schnitzel (not nearly as good as the hummus) costs a whopping 13 euros. And a tiny portion of labneh cheese - 6 euros. I made quite a few trips there especially from Neukölln but it's become a bit hard to justify that when Lisa's Hummus in Mall of Berlin is just as good and both much closer and...
Read moreI love the food, drinks, and the waiters have been very friendly - I used to come here very often. However, we decided to leave the restaurant without eating yesterday, as the distance between tables was really small, notwithstanding the fact that it is the peak of corona and Berlin is currently the risk zone. After asking to maybe open the window, the waiter refused. Perhaps it was also technically not possible to open the window, I don't remember the exact argumentation. Anyway, with closed windows and many customers in a tiny restaurant, the smell inside was really stiff. Also, the table I was sat at was not clean, and it was not cleaned while I sat there for maybe 15 minutes, waiting for friends. I felt that in this restaurant much more could be done to provide both customers and waiters with a safe environment, especially as both the place and the...
Read moreMy initial opinion was that if a café has the word “hummus” in its name, then its hummus can’t be that bad. It turns out that the hummus here is excellent, quite astounding in fact, and I am definitely coming back for more.
Definitely recommend the shakshuka. It comes with spicy green chili and lemon juice on the side.
The only bad thing was that they served hot black tea in a glass with no handle. Why... but the tea was good. Comes with honey on the side.
