Mani in Pasta (Markthalle) — Restaurant in Berlin

My husband and I stumbled across this place late in the afternoon on a Monday when all the other stands at the Markethalle were closed so by default this was our lunch. I have never been so excited to be forced into a meal. The Italians from Southern Italy running this place were incredible. Not only friendly and hard working, but the pasta was the best I have EVER had. I have traveled through Italy and still did not have the quality pasta that was served to me on that Monday afternoon in Berlin. They are hand making all noodles fresh daily and adding simple yet unforgettable sauces to the dish. The most memorable part of all is the parmesan cheese they used. I thought I had tasted real parmesan cheese before, but was blown away by the taste in my first bite. This ended up being one of my top favorite meals I have had in a very long time. My partner and I loved the Carbonara pasta that we got, although we couldn’t really enjoy it since we had an awful interaction with the cashier. We made our order, proceeded to wait, the order took a little longer than expected so we decided to ask for a takeaway like it says in the window where you pick up the order. My partner requested the pasta for take away, after which the woman that took our order earlier rolled her eyes and started lecturing my partner about how she should’ve said it at the register. That wasn’t even the worst part. After that, she turns to her co-workers and starts complaining in Italian, obviously not knowing that my girlfriend could understand everything. Even her co-workers told her to calm down and just put the order in a to-go box. We have been to Mani in Pasta many times and this has set such a negative effect that we don’t really feel like coming back...

The truffle pasta at Mani in Pasta in Berlin is seriously amazing! From the first bite, you’re hit with that rich, earthy truffle aroma that makes your mouth water. The pasta is cooked perfectly (btw they are freshly made pasta), just the right texture, and the sauce is creamy but not heavy, coating each piece without being too much. They’re generous with the fresh truffle shavings on top, which add this extra burst of flavor that takes the whole dish to another level. It’s one of those meals you just want to savor slowly because it’s that good. If you’re into truffle, this is a must-try—you’ll be dreaming about it long after it’s gone!
