I'm either very lucky or just easily pleased, as I tend to rate well most of the places I visit. This is not going to be the case.
The schnitzel is alright, the potatoes are actually good while the rump steak is mediocre at best. The beer is disappointing. All in all, I can live with that.
The service is the real highlight here though: caothic, awful and unprofessional. After being served rudely throughout the evening and having paid we stopped for a couple of drinks more.
Trying to pay for these drinks was a comedy, with 3 members of staff + 1 random guest (not joking) behind the counter fumbling with the cashier and all arguing over what to do. We were asked 3 times which one was our table, then presented with a 91.50 euro bill (for a beer and a Fritz Cola), then finally with the correct bill of 6.50 ( printed twice).
Paying it required another 5 minutes as everyone seemed to be unsure about what to do with our 20 euro note. The guy who looked like the boss finally managed to cash in and give back our change, just before rudely pointing out the tip was not included (note: we tipped for the food+drinks already, we were just paying for a cola and a beer). We all agreed he could just forget it.
We honestly had a big laugh about the whole thing, and all in all it will just be a remarkable entry for the usual "worst places you've been" conversation, but my opinion is that if you want bad food and unprofessional service Berlin offers way cheaper alternatives than this place.

Read moreAt previous visits to Berlin the restaurant was closed, perhaps for good I thought. I was pleasantly surprised when on this trip I discovered the place being open again. Perhaps it is under new management, so I’m not paying attention to old reviews.
The room with a long bar and some single and communal tables was buzzing and the young and vibrant staff had apparently everything under control. The menu is concise and covers all bases, so does the beverage list. Weissburgunder, Grüner Veltliner were tasty. Crispy sourdough bread, oysters, veal tongue and as main course mackerel were fantastic.
There are plenty of restaurants in Berlin offering the usual fare, schweine haxen, schnitzel pommes frites etc. this is not one of them.
This is a refreshingly “new” German restaurant with a farm fresh ever changing...

I know this place since ages. Was there over last 13 years a few times. Then it happened 2 weeks ago, I planned to meet for a lunch appointment, meeting a friend. I was unfortunately a bit late (10mins) and my friend waited on a table for 4 persons. The only table that was free while lunch time (1pm). As he told them that he is not alone and his appointment was a bit late, they straight KICKED him out without any warning, without any reason! When I finally arrived I went in just to understand what really happened in a very friendly "Sorry, what happened" way... They just responded in a loud voice "I should please leave this place"!
First lifetime experience and that in my home town. Therefore for sure a 1 star "Hated it" point for this. Sorry, but I wrote you guys and no excuse for...
