This Chain Steak House Is supposed to be the Equivalent of my Fave Steak House by Ruth…. Well it is definitely NOT. I got an advertisement via Instagram for a RIBS and Beer 4th of July Cookout BBQ featuring all the RIBS You can eat along with Other Grilled favorites. LIes they told. Not one of the several Items served came from A Hot Grill. Nor did the Only Rib Option which happen To be some Strange BBQ sauced Cold Korean??? Babyback Ribs. The Sauce was not Korean nor American and was not Grilled with the meat because This meat was never grilled. The only HOT ITEM was ONE Of the two French fry Choices. The wait staff was more interested In the SINGLE GIRL in the RED DRESS than they were about serving Anything HOT. This was a BAIT and SWITCH. And HIGHLY disappointing. The guacamole was from a can. The melted cheese wasn’t even Whiz, it was some canned concoction As well as the salsa which is so easy to prepare . And why am I even Eating NACHOS at a RIB BBQ? Because there were literally NO RIBS featured. Especially the ones OFF the Grill Sticky and Smoked Tender and Tasty. The waiter and I mean that Literally WAIT_er. I had to call Him over SEVERAL times because I had WAITED with no attention, Warned us about the amount Of Food and said order one burger It might be too much! Then he Brings this BURNT turd on an Oversized bun with sauce I said Not to be added. I looked and Laughed and handed the two Two bite burnt turd burger with Sauce I did not order to my Dining partner. Who immediately Took the bread away and ate the Tiny Turd burgers. As they over cooked and under seasoned. If this was supposed to be a ‘Tease’ for me to come back and try your full menu you FAILED miserably. My Death By Chocolate was supposed to be a dark Chocolate ice cream and a layered chocolate mousse. Well the ice cream melted and the plastic cover took 1/3 of The Mousse away because it wasn’t delivered by the WAIT_er On Time. And then came the FINAL BLOW. The knockout Punch. Pride Month is Over and the Restaurant returned to ‘Straight’ Wine……….Literally. Which was actually the BEST Part of the Entire Meal. A Riesling FRESH yet Full Bodied Giving Scents of Spring and early Summer. So sensual we finished a Bottle. Lecker....
Read moreDisappointing Dining Experience at Midtown Grill I recently visited Midtown Grill in Berlin Mitte with high hopes for an enjoyable dining experience. However, I left feeling disappointed and underwhelmed. While the food was acceptable, it fell short of being truly remarkable. Furthermore, the service provided by the staff was far from satisfactory, which significantly affected our overall impression of the restaurant.
One of the main issues I encountered was with the service. I ordered a medium rare Filet mignon, but to my dismay, I received a well-done steak instead. When I brought this to the attention of the service staff, they initially requested that I cut into the steak once again to verify whether it was indeed not cooked to the desired level. This request struck me as unnecessary and time-consuming, considering the clear disparity between the ordered and received preparation. Eventually, they agreed to replace the steak, but the wait for the new one was excessively long, approximately 25 minutes. Meanwhile, all the other diners had already received their meals.
Throughout this wait, I had to actively seek out our waiter for updates on the status of my meal. Unfortunately, despite my efforts, they failed to keep me informed until the food was finally served. This lack of communication and attentiveness to our dining experience was disappointing, as it made us feel neglected and unimportant as customers.
It was evident that the restaurant's focus seemed to be solely on the consumption aspect, rather than ensuring a pleasant and enjoyable overall experience. This lack of attention to detail and customer satisfaction left a lasting negative impression on our visit to Midtown Grill.
While the food was passable, the subpar service and lack of customer-centric approach prevent me from wholeheartedly recommending Midtown Grill in Berlin Mitte. The combination of the unsatisfactory service and average quality of the food resulted in an overall disappointing dining experience. Hopefully, the management will take note of these concerns and make the necessary improvements to ensure a more pleasant and customer-oriented...
Read more€195 for overcooked Porterhouse steak and deep-fried burrata. Midtown Grill proves you really can put a luxury price tag on disappointment.
Once known for its premium American steakhouse experience, Midtown Grill at the Marriott Berlin now feels like a faded version of its former self though still dressed in fine dining prices, but delivering something far from it.
We started with an Espresso Martini (heavy on the espresso, light on the balance), a Monkey 47 Gin & Tonic which tasted off-still unsure it was actually Monkey 47 and was served with Schweppes, not even a proper tonic and a Limoncello Spritz that was just okay.
As for the menu: only two cuts come from the U.S., the rest from Poland, Germany, Uruguay. Their “Burrata from Brandenburg” was a real gem , simply deep-fried in Panko - no additional touch with Parmesan or herbs to enhance the taste , you'll be chewing through just breadcrumbs instead. We ordered the Porterhouse steak (€167) medium rare. What arrived was well-done, likely left too long on a sizzling plate. It was replaced quickly, but even the second round was chewy in parts and nowhere near premium quality. The King prawns were still raw at some points.
Our vegetarian son received sweet potato fries instead of sweet potato gnocchi. When the right dish finally arrived, it was undercooked and still cold inside. He asked for it to-go as we were tired of the circus and we ended up tossing it into a bin on the way out. To his credit, our waiter was kind and genuinely tried but there’s only so much a good waiter can do when the kitchen is this careless.
Would I recommend it? Only if you want to show guests what happens when a steakhouse forgets what it's supposed to be. And as for the kitchen: someone really should send the chef back to culinary school; not just to learn how not to overcook a Porterhouse, but also how to choose the right cuts, store them properly, and use the right heat so they don’t turn into disappointment on a plate. Because let’s be honest, steak cooking is an art, and Midtown Grill is currently painting...
