I went there today with my family between 18.00-20.00. I have been to their hubs in Amsterdam and Cologne and had an amazing experience. However, today has been my worst experience there. The service took 2 hours to deliver 3 food items and 3 teas. The food didn’t taste well. Only the ghee rava masala dosa was good.

The whole episode for today is here: In the beginning we gave the complete order and explained them well about how we expect it to be delivered at our table. The idea was simple, please serve food dishes first and tea in the end. How hard is that to understand ?

Firstly, they took ages to serve food, then made us wait for another ice age to have the tea. The moment I cross-checked with a waitress about its status, we get to know that our order was never placed. Okay, I understand you are busy and skipped it. I placed it again with a this waitress. 30s later the waitress who took our order the first time arrived and said what happened. I told her about the tea situation, she said don’t worry you will have it soon. Would you like it with sugar or without. Again politely my father indicated two teas without sugar and one with sugar.

The teas arrived - all without sugar! This really made me annoyed. I called the waitress and asked about it. She replied you ordered all without sugar, I have no other information from your side. I politely explained her the situation, she went back to cross-check. Thanks for the trust on customer’s response!

She came back with sugar in her hand telling us we can add it manually. There was something wrong on their side. I told her its alright, it would be good if they could change it and get a new one WITH SUGAR. Well, what happened next was amazing ! She left apologising and another waitress came to say that we were at fault here and didn’t place the order correctly. She was explaining me the tea making process and how they add sugar. Well, girl that is what I wanted for my father in the first place, you guys messed it up and rather than apologising you blame it on the customer.

Despite all this, me and my father calmly handled the situation. We tried explaining her that the service team as a whole has failed today. We were not there to blame an individual. It was a team, and they should just accept and apologise. Thankfully, she did understand and apologised.

I am reluctant to ever visit this branch of Sarvana bhavan now. Kindly teach your staff some basic etiquettes and treat your customers well! The waitress who took the tea order the second time and the waitress who came to us in the end - talk to your customers respectfully or else find another...

We are originally from Chennai Tamilnadu - birthplace of Saravanabhavan- and settled in Canada couple of decades back. We came on vacation to Berlin and saw Saravanabhavan. Haunted by nostalgia and got off from our tour bus without thinking twice to pay a visit and have an awesome dinner, expecting the same quality of food and an excellent service the chain is known for. The place looked awesome and we could see a lot of crowd. We were seated quickly and we were served by one Jagraj. We ordered after some discussion within ourselves one sambar vada plate for starters and Chana bhatura for my partner (she changed her mind from the paneer pulav she initially told Jagraj and he also confirmed having noted the change to Chana bhatura instead of paneer pulao). I ordered an onion/tomato utthappam and we settled down while waiting for our items to arrive. Sambar vada arrived fairly fast. We were waiting on my partner’s Chana bhatura and my utthappam. Shock no.1 - my partner was delivered with paneer pulao which she didn’t want. Nevertheless, sensing that she also created some confusion, she silently accepted and moved on to have paneer pulao without uttering a word to Jagraj. I wouldn’t have done it though! Shock no.2 - we were also silently noticing about 5-10 dosa items were being hurled around to other tables including to the people who came after us to eat, but nowhere in sight of my utthapam. Finally, after about 30 minutes, without pointing out to Jagraj that he had already made a mistake in serving my wife, I asked about my utthappam for which he replied it’s getting ready! I wasn’t in a mood to point out to him his second mistake of the night for having forgotten about my utthapam totally. All I asked him was is to cancel my order for which he unapologetically said he had to check with the kitchen (come on, after 30 minutes, when others around us were served in 5 to 7 minutes). He could’ve honestly told me that sorry he forgot. Instead, he showed his unhappiness about my cancellation. In fact, my partner had already finished eating and ready to go! Then he went around to the kitchen and the till and came around to tell me that my order has been successfully cancelled! Our dinner together was utterly spoiled by an inefficient, forgetful and confused employee and we were forced to rate the restaurant down for it. Please have some coaching in place for the erring employee and other employees too, taking this as a classic example! We will never come back to this...

Title: A Mixed Experience at Sarvana Bhawan Berlin City

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Sarvana Bhawan Berlin City and wanted to share my thoughts on the overall experience. While the food was undoubtedly delicious, the service left much to be desired.

First and foremost, the food at Sarvana Bhawan was exceptional, living up to its reputation. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the dishes were prepared with great care. From the aromatic curries to the freshly baked naan bread, every bite was a delight. The restaurant truly knows how to deliver on the taste front, and I have no complaints in that regard.

However, I must address the issue of poor service. It was disappointing to witness such a contrast between the quality of the food and the service provided. The staff seemed indifferent and disinterested, with little attention paid to the needs of the customers. It felt as though they lacked proper training and enthusiasm in their roles.

In contrast, I couldn't help but notice the management's experience in handling food service during my visit. It is worth mentioning that the management team at Sarvana Bhawan has a background in the prison system, where punctuality and precision are crucial. It's unfortunate that these skills were not clearly reflected in the service provided by the staff.

While the food itself was commendable, the poor service overshadowed the overall experience. It is my hope that Sarvana Bhawan Berlin City takes note of these shortcomings and works towards improving their service quality. With a little more attention to customer satisfaction and a focus on consistent training, they have the potential to become a top-notch dining establishment.

In conclusion, Sarvana Bhawan Berlin City offers a tantalizing array of flavors and dishes that are sure to satisfy any craving for authentic Indian cuisine. However, the lackluster service experience dampened the overall enjoyment. I would recommend this restaurant for its delectable food, but I encourage the management to address the service issues to ensure a more well-rounded dining experience for their patrons. They can send their team across the street to Amrit to learn more about...

Went to eat brunch here two weeks ago, it was Saturday so it was quite full. The team took our name and we waited outside to be placed at a table, took around 5 minutes, so completely acceptable. Unfortunately the table was rather uncomfortable, next to a heater and very tight. Not at all comfortable for two people. We started with Medu Vada sambar and idli and were planning to try more of the menu later. Saravanaa Bhavan has a great reputation, but after visiting I don’t understand why. Medu Vada was too hard, it’s difficult to understand how they here in their big kitchen with loads of staff and equipment can’t at least come a little bit close to what Mumbai street food stalls manage to cook. The Sambar taste was authentic at least. Big highlight was the plates. My excitement for the food was decreased rapidly when I saw the plates were not washed and wiped properly. You can see it in the photos, with just a finger the layer was coming off. Felt very gross afterwards. The staff is VERY busy got the feeling of Mumbai 😅 like they are just waiting for you to finish your food fast so they can give the table to the next customer. I feel more relaxed on a McDonald’s to be honest. Worst part was the toilet. I have never seen so small stalls in my life. Not possible to use without touching your knees to the door while using. And super dirty too unfortunately. It was such a shame because I was looking forward to this visit for a while. We went to a different restaurant afterwards because we were still hungry of course. There is much better places, I would not recommend you to go to Saravanaa Bhavan.
