2.5 stars. The good: Super warm and welcoming staff. Really relaxing atmosphere and a very nice ambiance. The not so good: The food was bland and almost tasteless. It’s even hard to say mediocre. I had fasted all day and it was just a huge disappointment for me. Rule number 1: You eat with your eyes. Presentation could definitively use some work. The way that the food is presented largely influences the culinary experience. As for the actual curry, It was way too saucy for me and just sloppily presented which just doesn’t make a good first impression. Number 2: I also love love love spicy food, and I love how some dishes, in my experience, can be fairly predictably spicy. Here’s the thing. I saw on the menu that the dish was listed as “hot”, so I was expecting at least some level of spice. When the server took our order, I specifically requested “hot” and then explained that I like spicy food and this is what I was looking forward too so much. When the food arrived, it was bland as could be. Maybe I’m this is catered to the German palate? Not a single hint of spiciness, though. Just not interesting flavors IMO, overly tomatoey and just no kick whatsoever. I’m sorry, I’m not trying to be harsh, but as I’m getting older I realize that without feedback how can you become aware of your areas of further development? There are some good things here though, but after having experienced authentic Indian food, I have a much, much higher expectation for Indian restaurants, especially having lived in the UK. Unfortunately for me, this just did not cut it. There is a lot of good here. The people are wonderful. The kindness is amazing. Hats off to them. There is a lot of room for potential, but I feel the need to be honest. I went off the glowing reviews, and really felt let down by my experience. If you’re looking for something to really hit the spot when it comes to Indian food, maybe don’t set your hopes too high and maybe you’ll have a...
Read moreMy impression of German food so far has been, less than enthusiastic. This is of course my fault as, I was getting regional home cooking and I don't eat pig products unless it's on pizza. However, where I live we have a huge Indian population, so much so that on a map it's called Little India, so Indian food isn't exactly new to me. In comparison, the best Indian food I've ever had is in Manhattan at an award winning restaurant that cost a whole lot. There are also some amazing places in Jersey. But Naan, which cost way way less is right up there with some of the great places I've eaten. I had Chicken Vindoaloo and while of course I could say I want more chicken or more rice or more this or that, what the dish comes down to is how good was the sauce, and luckily, it's delicious and has a nice tinge of spice that anyone can enjoy. If given the option, also, since I'm staying 50 feet from the restaurant, we'll eat there again...
Read moreI recently visited Nan Indian Restaurant, and it was a delightful experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a cozy atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout the meal.
The food was absolutely delicious—rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. We started with some traditional appetizers, and the samosas were crispy and packed with flavor. For the main course, I highly recommend the butter chicken—it was creamy, tender, and had just the right amount of heat. The naan bread was fresh and fluffy, a perfect complement to the curries.
Portion sizes were generous, and the prices were reasonable for the quality of food served. If you enjoy authentic Indian cuisine, this place is definitely worth a visit.
Overall, Nan Indian Restaurant offers a fantastic dining experience with top-notch food and great service. I look forward...
