Ristorante Da Toni — Restaurant in Berlin

Came to the restaurant because I saw it had good reviews. Don’t believe them. Service was the worst I’ve ever encountered, I could understand if someone was in a bad mood but I still expected something better from a human being. The undeserving €33 that I spent on my food didn’t seem too unreasonable if it was high quality but it was severely lacking.

I arrived here and the waiter was already in a grumpy mood, helped people behind me in the queue to their table first and in doing so walked past me 4 times. I was finally given a table tucked away from everyone else and took my order. 40 minutes later my starter of focaccia Classico arrived. Whatever I was brought did not resemble a focaccia bread in the slightest. It was plain and simply a thin pizza base with a large dousing of oil on top. I asked the waiter about this incase there was a mistake and I accidentally had someone else’s food, and he insisted and kept saying focaccia to me and pointing? This naturally confused me and I reluctantly ate the crunchy starter. Thankfully the starter took such a long time that my main arrived before I had even finished it. And don’t consider myself a slow eater. The pizza that was in front of me had peppers and ham on it, nothing of which resembled the pizza da Toni that I know I ordered and should’ve contained salmon shrimp cream cheese and rocket. Simple enough, I felt I had a real case to reject the obvious pizza I didn’t order or was given mistakenly. But my signalling of the waiter was met with a “talk to the hand” this once again added to my confusion. Waiting another 5 minutes clearly not touching the food incase it was given to someone else I once again tried to signal the waiter, this time it being successful. With several confusing back and forths he gave in when I mentioned it should’ve been the pizza da Toni and grabbed a pizza from the side coincidentally being the exact pizza I ordered. I thanked him and ate the food, which I was very much looking forward to as an appetite had built up by this point. I have had many salmons in my time and the salmon presented infront of me was unlike anything I had tasted before. The only possible explanation I could come up with was that this salmon was microwaved and then baked on top of the pizza. The result of it was beyond disgusting, and I fear the shrimps were given the same treatment as they tasted just as bad or if not worse than the salmon. I took my loss and separated the good and the bad food. Asked for the bill. And once paid without tipping was told to leave with a stern bye.

Ordered a lunch special (softdrink and pasta/pizza) for €8.50. At checkout I received a bill of €12, when asked about the difference the woman said I received a softdrink (coca cola zero) from a bottle and therefore it was not part of the lunch menu.

Good affordable lunch! We ordered the lasagna which was lukewarm but nice. The salad dressing was also very nice! I even tried to get the recipe.

What was a bit more annoying was that one of their staff member on a break yelling over the phone a few tables from us. We just wanted a peaceful lunch. We will come back but it would be nice to get to have a proper...
