I went there today for the first time and I am not sure if I’m going to go again. I’ll just point out what I liked and what I didn’t like from my visit at Sticks&Sushi. I saw the menu online and was really looking forward to trying the food. Looked promising. What I liked about this restaurant: +The staff were super sweet and kind. My waitress was really thoughtful and took good care of me. +The sushi was fresh and delicious, although - somewhat small pieces. +There is a gluten free menu! +Location of the restaurant is also good, one can get there easily with the public transport. Now, about what I didn’t like: -I ordered sparkling water, but I got just normal water. No problem. It seemed like it was tap-water. The waitress confirmed. I said I don’t drink tap-water, even if it was filtered, so I asked kindly for bottled water. They don’t have bottled water at all. There is just tap-water. Did not expect that. -I ordered a glass of white wine. Now, I know in Berlin one cannot expect to get even half full glass of wine in any restaurant, but what I got there was obscenely tiny portion. This was even for Berlin offensively little amount of wine, and the glass was just a normal one. See picture… -The chopsticks were cheap and they didn’t feel nice in the hand. Did not expect that for the price category. -I ordered one of the menus. It was served in two courses. The first course was announced as the cold one, the second one - the warm course. Well, they were both cold, and if the temperature was referred to only to point out the method of preparation of the food, then it really makes little to no difference to me, as in the end I’m eating a whole menu that’s plain cold. -The salmon stick was disappointingly salty. Down went the glass of wine there :) -finally, I felt like the biggest portion from the whole menu was the edamame and mushrooms portions… not cool. oh, and the ambience was also somewhat cold. So despite that the staff were super kind and that the fish was fresh, I was left unimpressed at Sticks&Sushi. Good service and fresh food is just the bare minimum. Sorry guys, just two...
Read moreIf I compaire this resturant with the one located at Tivoli hotel in copenhagen (which I give 5 stars on all parameters) I find this one a bit disappointing. Don't get me wrong, it was a good experience. There are a few things that pulls down the rating of this place.
Firstly, we ordered a sake tasting, the woman serving it did not know anything about the sake besides the name and how much alcohol they contained. I never tried before when a place offering a tasing of some sort that they have not trained the staff in knowing at least eg where it's from, key characteristics or key notes. When you but a tasting it's interesting to know why they have selected what they have and what is different between them (besides the alcohol procent). The same lacking passion was experienced with most of the foos presentations besides the guy who came and presented our sashimi, he was extreemly passionate! All in all we're they nice to us but I had expected a more professional staff (besides the sushi guy). it was no problem to split the bill.
Next thing is the atmosphere/set and setting, it was okay but it felt a bit incomplete in a way, that is hard to discribe. The bathrooms was very nice though with incense burning.
Lastly I think the food quakity was of the same high standard that the resturant chain is known for, but I think there was a little missing on the presentation side. It often looked a bit like. Food was thrown on the serving plates (besides the sashimi that was beautiful). I think the level I experience in copenhagen is a few...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. The first thing that struck me was the high price of the appetizers, which didn't match their very average taste. It was clear that the restaurant was trying to charge a premium for their dishes, but the quality simply wasn't there.
To make matters worse, we ended up waiting for over an hour for our main course. This was completely unacceptable, especially given the fact that the restaurant wasn't particularly busy at the time. It was a frustrating and unpleasant experience, and it really put a damper on the evening.
To add insult to injury, our waiter behaved in a very cold and dismissive manner. They had a negative tone and didn't seem interested in making our experience a pleasant one. It's a shame, because good service can often make up for subpar food, but in this case, the poor service only made the experience worse.
Finally, while the food was displayed beautifully, the taste was only average. It was clear that the restaurant was trying to create a high-end dining experience, but the quality simply wasn't there. The taste didn't match the high price, and overall, it was a disappointing experience.
Overall, I would not recommend this Japanese restaurant. The high prices, poor service, and average food simply don't justify a visit. There are plenty of other Japanese restaurants in the area that offer better value for money and a more pleasant...
