The food and set-up of this restaurant are nice, which is too bad that I won't ever return again. I was treated rudely and disrespectfully by one of the owner. I went with my eight-month-old baby for lunch there and was happy that he could partake in the galette with egg with me too. Despite his bib that caught food, some still fell onto the floor, as anyone who has ever eaten with a little one can imagine. At the end of the meal my son took the fork and threw it onto the floor too. Ok, I thought, I'll clean up the baby and then clean up the floor while he sits in the stroller. As I was wiping up the floor, the owner stormed in to tell me to pay and leave immediately. He angrily said that he was not my butler. I calmly told him I was cleaning it up, as he could also see if he chose to. He said he didn't care about my explanation and kept repeating for me to pay and leave. He also wouldn't let my friend and her baby come into the restaurant, as he told her I was leaving. It's unfortunate that this nice place is run by people who obstinately hold onto their points of view and don't accept the attempts to rectify the situation while still complaining about it. Not to mention a lack of respect...
Read moreThe creperie offers gluten-free buckwheat savory galettes, which are in themselves safe for those who cannot eat gluten. However, the sweet crepes are made with flours containing gluten, on the same griddle!!! Of course, you can order sweet crepes without gluten, but just like the savory ones, they are made on the same griddle that was contaminated with gluten shortly before. The menu features the words “Glutenfrei”, even accompanied by a crossed out ear of wheat. Yet this symbol is an international recognition to identify a totally safe product (therefore free of traces of gluten…). Perfect place for intolerant people, but not for celiacs. It should be specified…. (In answer to what the owners wrote, I appreciate the attention you have given to my report. However, I would like to point out that the denaturation of gluten due to heat does not make it harmless for celiacs, neither over 170° C. Gluten proteins, even if altered, can still trigger an autoimmune reaction, so if the surface isn't completely clean, it's not safe for people affected by...
Read moreI have barely ever been to a restaurant with such incredibly poor service and such unfriendly staff! First we had to wait for almost 20 minutes to be handed a menu, even though there were only 2 other tables taken at the time we were there. Then we were told, we were not allowed to order drinks, if we didn't eat anything, even though, as mentioned before there was barely anyone there and the "dinner rush" was no where in sight, as it was 4pm and let's keep it real, weather you're French or German, dinner doesn't start before 6 (so please don't give me that reply, as i've seen the owner do in some other complaints!). What we did instead was go to the restaurant across the street, where we were greeted increadibly friendly and no one minded, that we were just having drinks (even though it truly was a restaurant, and not just a cafe as this creperie is). PLUS... we even got a free creme brulee on the house - so definitely the much better choice! My recommendation: skip the suzette creperie and go to Restaurant Lorbeer on the other side of...
