DONT GO THERE!!!
We wanted to go for some good italian food and this place looks really nice from the outside but this is really a terrible place! We ordered one pizza and they nearly managed to put like 5 gram of cheese on it - we told it to the female waiter and she called the chef that had made the pizza and she was so sorry. So good so far.........and now starts the fun which reminded quite a lot af Fawlty Towers! The owner came - an very scary old man and dont mess with him and his restaurant and the food. He said that there were plenty of cheese on the pizza (there was NOTNING) and this was the best mozzarella in town and he went on and on. He placed afterwards the pizza on the empty table and there it was like forever. We were like "what is going on"........After 15 min. - the pizza was still on the table - we asked for the check and then he presented the bill with the pizza on it. We said that we will not pay for the "no cheese pizza" and then with his hands he digged in the pizza to show us that there were plenty of cheese and he was like looking and looking with his bare hands playing with the food to find the cheese, which was diffucult for him to find. For a moment we thought we were on hidden camera! Now we told him that we were not going to eat the food after his bare hands had been digging in the pizza. He then shouted that he used a fork and not his hands and now he wanted to call the police if we didnt pay. We were like - lets get away from here - the owner he is far on beoynd and quite scary! We actually afterwards read another review where some other customer critisised the food and a male waiter put his hand around his neck. That male waiter must be the owner.
This restaurant is a joke, but if you are into a Fawlty Towers act like Basil (John Cleese) then you should absolutely go there and if you come up with any critics to the food - then the big drama starts from the owner. If you want some good italian food go to another place, cause the good food are you NOT going to...

I had the pleasure of dining at Muntagnola Restaurant during the Folsom festivities, and it was an experience to remember. Known for its authentic Italian flavors, Muntagnola truly stands out, not only for its exceptional cuisine but also for its warm, inclusive, and open-minded atmosphere.
The restaurant's welcoming approach during such a lively and diverse event as Folsom speaks volumes about their commitment to creating a space where everyone feels comfortable. From the moment we walked in, the staff made it clear that Muntagnola is a place where all guests are respected and celebrated, regardless of the occasion or crowd.
The food, as always, was a highlight. Traditional Italian dishes made with fresh, high-quality ingredients were paired perfectly with the vibrant energy of the Folsom crowd. Whether you're here for a special event or just a regular night out, Muntagnola strikes the perfect balance between great food and an open-minded spirit.
If you're looking for a restaurant that embraces diversity, serves incredible food, and fosters a welcoming environment, Muntagnola is the place to be—especially during events like Folsom. Highly recommended!
This review highlights both the culinary excellence and inclusive atmosphere of the restaurant, making it appealing to a wide range of guests.

Its really amazing that Berlin hosts so many great italian restaurants representing the regions of the entire country !!! Today with Trattoria a Muntagnola, we'll visit the south-italian region called Basilicata . For almost 30 years - since 1991 - this family restaurant , leaded by gorgeous Angela and her son Pino, has been introducing its guests the cuisine of the Italy. "La Muntagnola" - "a woman from the mountains" is exactly what Pino's father called his wife. This place is a whole suitcase of stories, traditions of Basilicata, dishes after old family recipes and a rustic atmosphere.
Angela keeps on wellcoming her guests every evening and even though already 83 years old she is still cooking in the kitchen !!! Her famous ravioli with cinnamon and ricotta, strozzapreti with butter and sage, gnocchi with ricotta and many more dishes are known throughout Germany because together with her son Pino she published two Italian cookbooks.
Back to the restaurant: Twice a week they get fresh vegetables, cheese and other products such as wine, balsamic and olive oil from local producers of Basilicata, directly delivered from Italy. Every week you will find new special entries in the menu. For example, I tried delicate chestnut ravioli 👌 Additionally we had a terrific antipasti plate with different vegetables and Angela's famous caponata - I got the recipe and will soon be posting it for you -, vegan pasta "Alla Norma" with great homemade tagliatelle and limoncello and amaretto, the typical, but in this case of course homemade liquors.
Further, LA Trattoria a Muntagnola is a cultural place . There are regularly events like art exhibitions, literary evenings and concerts. Pino and Angela also proved through the years a remarkable social engagement by writing for example a book to raise funds for a charity helping HIV-infected children. (👏👏👏)
