I came here before for a nanban bowl--which was of course delicious, but it was after today's visit that I said to myself: "ok this place needs a five-star review."
I personally eat everything, bugs, meat, mock duck, whatever. However, since quite a lot of my friends are vegetarian, I got a vegan chicken party box from Tsu Tsu for them. Our minds were blown. At first, I couldn't detect the differences between normal chicken karaage and the vegan karaage at all. I was surprised to the point that I needed to take time to taste it and not chomp the whole thing down just so I can make sure that I'm not feeding my vegan friends chicken 😂 (and that's a compliment!)
The seasonings were just right, and those omusubi with shiitake were super good, not to mention the pickles. They aren't doing vegan food just for the sake of attracting vegan...
Read moreWas excited to try this out, but quite disappointing to be honest. Kaarage was quite good texture-wise, very crispy on the outside, juicy inside. It was not seasoned enough though and tasted quite bland. Wasabi Mayo was really spicy and more on the wasabi side (might be my personal preference). Potato salad was quite good and filling, though not sure what the difference with german potato salad was really.
Generally the portion was underwhelming, with just 4 pieces of chicken served. The service lady is also simply not interested to welcome customers and is doing the bare minimum, so not feeling really welcome.
Not sure if I'd visit again, maybe in a few months to see if they changed but not very hopeful now. I personally preferred the taste of the kaarage at Cocolo, a block...
Read moreI live in the area so I see this place all the time when walking through the street. It looks nice and cozy and the reviews are good so I thought I’d give it a try, using a discount from the neotaste app. Even with this app, it was a waste of money. First of all you have to wait because they only have one cook and making the chicken can take a while if it’s full. But now we come to the main issue, which is the food itself. You pay ~ eight euros for a few small pieces of chicken and the worst part is that this chicken is extremely fatty and squishy, with barely any actual meat on it. Most of it was just squishy breading. The money is better spent at a local kebab...
