Read moreIf you are a vegan or have a special diet of any kind I would recommend trying other Vietnamese restaurants in town. For example the 1990 Vegan Living restaurant which is the best. This Umami restaurant was terribly disappointing. Vegan dishes were smaller than meat dishes which makes absolutely no sense because they should be bigger, and in the menu they were even called fasting food. So after a pre-dish and a main dish we were still really hungry and we needed to order second main dishes and actually could have had third ones too but our wallets got quite light already... Our waitress was not professional enough; she forgot to take care of our orders and she forgot to ask the kitchen about some allergens we asked her to ask. She did not even know what wheat was so we were really struggling. The food was very salty and clearly the main ingredient was MSG (mono sodium glutamate) because it was tasty but there were no real food flavours. The only good thing about our dishes was that the vegetables they used were quite fresh. And in the end we noticed from our receipt that we also paid for someone else's drinks. The...

It seems that the sanitary conditions have greatly decreased: I asked for my usual tea and the cup that it came in had a terrible rotten smell, it was also sticky on the outside and I had to wash my hands immediately to clean the rotten disgusting smell. Probably the cup was placed next to rotten food or it was dried with super dirty cleaning clothes. I complained and the waitress insisted that it was just the lemon, but believe me, that was definitely not lemon. They charged for the tea anyways, even though I didn't drink a sip of it and I asked it to be removed immediately because it was too stinky.
The chopsticks also had a bad smell. Not as bad but still they smell like rotten fish. I suspect that their dishwasher hasn't been cleaned in months or that they are drying the cups and cutlery with clothes full of bacteria.
I hope they check rigorously the sanitary conditions. Other than that, the food tastes good and the...
