My recent visit to Umami, a Vietnamese restaurant that exudes charm and warmth, was an absolute delight. While I won't delve into the specifics of the dishes I savored, I can confidently say that the overall experience at Umami was impeccable. The restaurant effortlessly weaves together the threads of exceptional service, an inviting atmosphere, and an authentic culinary journey, creating an unforgettable dining experience.

Service: From the moment I arrived, the staff at Umami extended the warmest of welcomes, ensuring I felt right at home. Their knowledge of the menu and Vietnamese cuisine was evident, and they were more than happy to offer recommendations based on my preferences. The service was attentive yet unobtrusive, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness.

Cuisine: The menu at Umami is a true testament to the depth and richness of Vietnamese cuisine, with a variety of dishes that cater to different tastes and dietary requirements. Each dish showcased an expertly crafted balance of flavors, textures, and aromas, reflecting the passion and skill of the chef. The attention to detail was evident, from the presentation of the dishes to the quality of the ingredients used.

In conclusion, Umami Vietnamese Restaurant is a gem that offers diners a memorable and authentic culinary experience. The combination of exceptional service, a warm atmosphere, and skillfully crafted dishes make Umami a must-visit for anyone seeking to immerse themselves in the vibrant world of...

If you are a vegan or have a special diet of any kind I would recommend trying other Vietnamese restaurants in town. For example the 1990 Vegan Living restaurant which is the best. This Umami restaurant was terribly disappointing. Vegan dishes were smaller than meat dishes which makes absolutely no sense because they should be bigger, and in the menu they were even called fasting food. So after a pre-dish and a main dish we were still really hungry and we needed to order second main dishes and actually could have had third ones too but our wallets got quite light already... Our waitress was not professional enough; she forgot to take care of our orders and she forgot to ask the kitchen about some allergens we asked her to ask. She did not even know what wheat was so we were really struggling. The food was very salty and clearly the main ingredient was MSG (mono sodium glutamate) because it was tasty but there were no real food flavours. The only good thing about our dishes was that the vegetables they used were quite fresh. And in the end we noticed from our receipt that we also paid for someone else's drinks. The...

Usually this restaurant is really good and I eat there often, until today. It seems that the sanitary conditions have greatly decreased: I asked for my usual tea and the cup that it came in had a terrible rotten smell, it was also sticky on the outside and I had to wash my hands immediately to clean the rotten disgusting smell. Probably the cup was placed next to rotten food or it was dried with super dirty cleaning clothes. I complained and the waitress insisted that it was just the lemon, but believe me, that was definitely not lemon. They charged for the tea anyways, even though I didn't drink a sip of it and I asked it to be removed immediately because it was too stinky.

The chopsticks also had a bad smell. Not as bad but still they smell like rotten fish. I suspect that their dishwasher hasn't been cleaned in months or that they are drying the cups and cutlery with clothes full of bacteria.

I hope they check rigorously the sanitary conditions. Other than that, the food tastes good and the...

Edit: The 5th time I visited, I went in at 1PM on a weekday and the service was horrendous. My order was wrong twice. The third time I was given the food, the dumplings didn't taste like vegetables (tasted like chicken) but I had no time to wait for it to be corrected again so I just ate it. The most frustrating part was the waiter looked at me as if I was annoying her each time I pointed out that the food was wrong. I am going to try never to go here again. ----- Absolutely delicious food and exceptional service. The ambience is also very beautiful and makes it worth to visit even on special occasions. The staff can speak english and german and the menu is also in both languages. There are so many options as well as equally so many vegetarian options! I've been there 4 times and I'd never been disappointed with anything. The service times are so fast - I've always been served on less than 5 min after they have taken my order. I'm sure I'll come here again and again!

We ordered Hoi An riches for starter , which was ok, the dumplings were also just ok Coming to the mains , I had ordered Dragons bbq , which was supposed to have king prawns but they looked regular prawns to me and the sauce got overwhelming after two spoons of it, even though the menu told it is some special ‘mekong whisky sauce’ to me it tasted like regular bbq sauce from the bottle. My partner had Deep gold beef, which is what even I ended up sharing because I could barely eat more of dish, deep gold beef, tasted fresh and was better from all the dishes we ordered. I had also ordered the drink coriander mule , which was again nothing memorable. Overall it was an underwhelming dine out for me , given this place had such high ratings. Service was fine

What an incredible experience. 5 stars is not enough. Maison Umami is one of the restaurants for which I could especially travel to Berlin. Walked in for dinner, and liked it so much that I came back for lunch next day. Such a pity I had to leave Berlin the following day, because I would definitely come back another time. Menu is very exciting, with a lot of variety and vegetarian options, and all items literally just beg you to be ordered. All dishes are well presented, have rich flavor, and the general experience feels very authentic. There is no particular Asian cuisine dominating: I sensed influences from Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, and other cuisines; but this did not disturb the reception. Strong YES, 10s across the board.
