A Night to Remember at Vaust:

The lights of Berlin danced with the rhythm of vibrant life, that our tale unfolds.

On a night draped in serendipity, our group, swelled by joyful companions, sought a haven to mark our cause for celebration. With hope as our guide I dialled Vaust, despite the lateness of the hour, the kitchen chef and service team, with a grace that speaks volumes of their dedication, agreed to accommodate us.

A swift taxi ride from the Gedächniskirche had us stepping into Vaust's embrace in less than five minutes. The scene that greeted us was one of cozy elegance. Warm lighting cast a welcoming glow over our tables, inviting us into its comforting fold.

Our evening commenced with a round of appetizers, where the Panisse stood as an unspoken hero, winning the hearts of our international cohort. As the night unfurled, our group, eclectic in taste, dabbled both in the artistry of Vaust's 3-course offerings and the allure of à la carte selections. The waiter, navigated our varied requests with admirable finesse.

Then, the pièce de résistance - the arrival of the dishes. Each plate was a canvas of culinary craftsmanship. From the delicate Consommé to the robust Lasagna that I, myself, had the pleasure of savoring, each dish was a testament to the care, love, and thought invested in the menu. The Roulade was a symphony of flavors, and the Tortellini, a dance of tradition and innovation on the palate.

The crescendo of our gastronomic symphony was the array of cakes that followed dinner. Each slice was a celebration in itself, earning high praise from every corner of our table. After all, what better way to commemorate a special occasion than with the sweet allure of cake?

As we basked in the afterglow of a meal, one thing became abundantly clear: Vaust is not just a restaurant; it is a cornerstone of Berlin's vibrant dining scene. It's a place where each visit is not just a meal, but a story etched in the annals of one's gastronomic journey.

In conclusion, Vaust stands as a beacon of culinary excellence, a testament to the magic that happens when passion, skill, and a flair for hospitality converge. This is more than just a dining experience; it's a celebration of the senses, a tribute to the art of good eating. Vaust, undoubtedly, is one of Berlin's most important culinary landmarks, a must-visit for anyone seeking to write their own...

So. I came here with a friend hoping to show him that vegan food can be delicious and exciting. Little did I know, the service and the food were to be a bitter disappointment. First of all, if you are going to take half an hour to bring out food, you should at the very least mention this fact to the customer and make sure they are taken care of in the meantime. All we were served to begin with was a little bread with a tiny saucer of olive oil and a spice mix. We were sitting there for ages, getting hungrier and hungrier and politely looking at the waitors to see if at some stage they would respond to our silent pleas, but to no avail. When the food finally came out it was a complete mess of flavours. There was no harmony within the dishes. The seasoning was completely off ( one dish having too much salt, the other having what seemed like none at all). Both the service and the food was extremely disappointing. On top of that, it was overpriced. As a vegan restaurant the staff, the chef and the owners should have made an extra special effort to be better than the alternative so that people are encouraged to try vegan food. Instead, however, they have succeeded in becoming the first restaurant in Berlin that I have disliked so far. And considering the number of restaurants I have tried, this is quite an accomplishment. Would not reccommend this place at all. It is a complete discredit...

Extremely Disappointing Dining Experience on My Birthday

I am writing to express my profound disappointment regarding my recent visit to this restaurant. My husband and I had high hopes for a memorable evening, but it turned out to be a nightmarish experience that left us deeply dissatisfied.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that something was amiss. The staff's impolite demeanor was immediately noticeable, but we hoped that it was just an isolated incident. Unfortunately, our optimism was short-lived.

After an extended wait, one of the staff members finally took our order, but that marked the beginning of an even worse ordeal. We patiently chatted amongst ourselves while time passed, unaware that an hour had elapsed without any sign of our food. It was only when we decided to inquire about our order that we were met with sheer incompetence.

The individual who initially took our order seemed to misunderstand our inquiry, assuming we were ready to settle the bill! When we clarified that we were still (after one hour) awaiting our meal, a woman informed us that the order slip had been misplaced in the kitchen. This was an appalling lapse in professionalism ontheir part, and it left us both bewildered and frustrated.

What was even more disheartening was the fact that, despite the considerable inconvenience and disappointment we endured, the restaurant failed to offer even a token gesture of apology. A simple acknowledgment of the mistake and an attempt to make amends would have gone a long way in salvaging the evening, but this was conspicuously absent.

To make matters worse, this visit held special significance for me as it was my birthday celebration. I had been eagerly looking forward to dining at this restaurant, and my excitement was shattered by the incompetence and indifference displayed by the staff. I was so distraught by the experience that I found myself shedding tears right there in the restaurant.

I had never imagined that a restaurant, especially one with a reputation like that, would treat its patrons with such a lack of respect and professionalism. We entered the restaurant with courtesy and patience, only to be subjected to an ordeal that has left me deeply traumatized.

I hope they take this feedback seriously and make the necessary improvements to ensure that other patrons do not have to endure the same distressing experience. It is my sincere hope that this restaurant can regain the reputation it once had, but based on our recent encounter, I am left with serious doubts.

Great vegan German cuisine, delicious homemade lemonades, good selection and excellent condiments to take away. There were two of us at Vaust on a Thursday evening and we received our tasty meal very quickly. The vegan dishes spring from German cuisine and are particularly inventive. There is a monthly menu, from which we ordered the chickpea fries, carrot tartare, pea schnitzel, cabbage roulade and tarragon panacotta, as well as homemade lemonade. All to our complete satisfaction. Especially the sauces of the main dishes were a blast! The bread with the sesame oil and the homemade spiced salt were a good start. The restaurant has been around for ten years! I regret not getting to know it earlier! Definitely recommended!!!

Highly recommended if you are in Berlin. Worth taking the trip from central Berlin. One of my absolute favorite 5 restaurants in Berlin. 1. Beer and Wine You have to enjoy the award-winning Pilsener from the restaurant's own microbrewery and also their wine collection is top-notch. 2. Food A good choice of seasonal dishes and several typical german dishes are delicious, and you wouldn't notice that they are 100% vegan. 3. Classic atmosphere inside and also tables outside in this nice quarter of B. Prices: Worth the quality but not expensive.

Vaust is a bit deep into West Berlin for most tourists, but you can easily plan a dinner there after a stop at Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church on the “far” side of the Tiergarten. It’s located on a pretty, quiet street where you can hear many birds singing while you eat outside. This was our “authentic German” vegan dinner plan and we are quite satisfied. The spaetzle was excellent and we enjoyed our starters as well. The chocolate cake for dessert was the perfect ending.
