I just had the most uncomfortable experience at this place. When I arrived, there were two men working and they were fantastic. One of them, let's say the "new" employee was super friendly and walked me through meal choices because I couldn't decide since everything sounded great. After I ordered, the food was ready quickly and was tasty. Then there was a staff shift- the other man left and a woman replaced him at the register- she was either a manager or owner and she was absolutely horrible.
She was supposedly training the new employee but it was awful treatment in front of several clients. Literally yelling, berating, and belittling him in front of people. It was so uncomfortable for me sitting in the back and eventually, it became so unpleasant I had to leave (unfortunate because I had much time to kill and wanted to try some of their drinks after my lunch). It was so bad I was getting anxious for him- a stranger! Actually, he was so sweet and calm-tempered and was perfect until she came because she probably makes him nervous and fumble on her several requests and criticism of every. single. thing. he did. which according to her was wrong. "why are you looking at me? do (x)" "don't embarrass me", "tell me! who eats cake with a spoon!", "you're doing it wrong!" "why are you overcharging the customer" are a few snippets I can remember, delivered in a loud scolding manner in front of the client and came in one after the other. Poor guy.
Needles to say I will not be going back but I really want to thank this new employee for the attention and kindness he showed me from ordering, to helping me find a place to sit and checking up moments later. You did a fantastic job. I give you 5 stars for your service! I hope you find a job place that values the great service and skills you have to offer.
To the manager or trainer- public humiliation is not a proper way to train your staff. It's inappropriate and unprofessional and not a way you should talk to anyone either in private or public. Perhaps not knowing I was there in the second room is not an excuse. Be kind and respectful to your staff. Four stars for your lovely place and nice food but this atmosphere was toxic and overtakes the...
Read moreI live in the neighbourhood so came here a few times because of convenience. Unfortunately every time the drinks were disappointing (I tried the black sesame latte and it had literally no taste, and the 6,80 âspecialâ Vietnamese salted cream iced latte that was without exaggeration, a watery concoction with no coffee taste that had a salted cream on top. The menu said it would be sweet but I assure you no flavour, sweet or savoury, was detectable. I am not a snob nor a very picky customer so the first time I assumed it was just a bad day, the second I was disappointed, today I decided not to give the drinks another chance because they are not cheap and 3/3 is a bad score.
What prompted me to post a review was not the disappointing coffee but the service. I am from the service industry so I totally understand being tired or overwhelmed or just having a bad day. I am very patient as a customer because my full time job is serving annoying people coffee. But when I have paid 6,80 for a (bad) drink and I sit there with my friend who ordered food (the food is good btw) and another expensive drink, and I politely ask and wait for a glass of tap water, and you serve me the tiniest glass half empty (see photo), after looking visibly irritated that I asked, then Iâm running out of reasons to give your neighbourhood place a chance.
Food: good Drinks: subpar Value for money: not good Atmosphere: nice Would...
