Café Goldjunge Media-Park — Restaurant in Cologne

Worst service I've gotten in quite a while. In summary, basically acted as though I was invisible AND overcharged me for the worst "flat white" I have had the misfortune of drinking. Avoid at all costs.

Long story: I arrived and was told the tables were all reserved. No problem, I'll get takeout. I stand behind the person currently being served to wait. An older couple comes in, and instead of standing behind me, stands beside me. The person in front of me gets their stuff and leaves and I step forward to order, but the woman at the counter chooses to take their order instead. I say I was there first and she half-heartedly apologizes and asks me what I want. I order some cheesecake and a flat white with cow milk (which, of course, should have a nice, resilient layer of microfoam on top). She goes to cut the cheesecake, while taking this couple's order, who want to sit. Then, instead of making my coffee, she goes to check the reservation book, despite having JUST told me the tables are all reserved. The couple sits outside while the machine makes my coffee, and a different pair lets the barista know they won't be using their reservation due to the loudness of the place. Does she ask me if I want to stay? No! Instead, she goes outside and tells them a table freed up. Comes back, asks me how I want to pay and if I want a receipt (with card and yes, the bill seems higher than it should be). She charges me, and then goes off to deal with this couple as they get settled, all while I am waiting for the receipt. She comes back and ignores me while talking to someone waiting to pay, so I, annoyed, say excuse me. She has the gall to ask me what I want, and I told her I had previously asked for a receipt when she asked. Gives me the receipt and I leave. Lo and behold, she charged me €0,50 for the oat milk I specifically told her I didn't want. Maybe it was a mistake or maybe I rubbed her the wrong way and she decided to rip me off on top of ignoring me, but either way, bad experience all around (the cheesecake isn't bad, but even in the best of circumstances, it's nothing special nor worth the garbage service). Avoid, and maybe take a little extra time and go to Coffee Gang instead for good service, good coffee, and...

This place takes a high 4, if it wasn’t for the waiting time it would have been a 5. Food is amazing, very well served on the plates and with super rich tastes. Das Café Goldjunge am Mediapark bietet eine gemütliche Atmosphäre und ist ein guter Ort, um eine Pause einzulegen. Die Einrichtung ist modern und einladend. Die Mitarbeiter sind in der Regel freundlich, können aber manchmal etwas überfordert wirken, besonders zur Stoßzeit.

Die Speisekarte bietet eine gute Auswahl an Frühstücks- und Mittagsgerichten, sowie eine Vielzahl an Kaffeespezialitäten. Die Qualität der Kaffeespezialitäten und des Frühstücks ist durchweg gut. Ich schätze besonders, dass es auch vegetarische und vegane Alternativen gibt. Die Kaffeespezialitäten sind besonders zu empfehlen. Die Preise sind für Köln angemessen, könnten aber für manche etwas hoch erscheinen.

Leider ist das Café oft sehr voll, was dazu führt, dass es schwierig sein kann, einen freien Platz zu finden. Außerdem kann der Service manchmal etwas langsam sein. Ein weiterer Punkt, der uns aufgefallen ist, war, dass das Personal an unserem Tisch etwas abwesend wirkte. Vielleicht lag es daran, dass wir direkt am Schaufenster Platz...
