A Whacky Culinary Adventure!

Let me start by saying that the name of this place had us scratching our heads - Mongos Restaurant in Köln, but hey, don't judge a book by its name, right?

We kicked off our meal with an insect appetizer - yes, you read that right! Crunchy little critters that surprisingly didn't make us bug out. It was a wild start to our dining experience, to say the least.

The main dishes were a real trip with options like Zebra, Kangaroo, Llama, Ostrich, and other exotic meat selections. It was like being on a safari, but with a knife and fork. The flavors were surprisingly delicious and made for some great dinner conversation.

The staff was fantastic! They were as hospitable as can be, considering the fact that they probably deal with confused faces on a daily basis. Kudos to them for keeping the atmosphere lively and welcoming.

Our evening was filled with lots of laughter - whether it was from trying to pronounce the menu items or sharing our quirky food adventures. Mongos Restaurant is not just a place to eat; it's a fun-filled dining escapade that you won't soon forget.

So, if you're up for a culinary rollercoaster ride and a good time, Mongos Restaurant is the place to be in Köln!

Beware if you book a table for a larger group, you have a time limit of 3 hours. The process of booking is cumbersome and they ask for a lot of personal data (address, etc), papers need to be signed and sent by email. Nowhere in the process you are informed about the time limit.

We were simply given a 30 mins notice to leave. If we knew this, we would not have ordered the pricy “all you can eat” option that they push for, which we also told to the staff about. We were ready to pay and leave, when 2 “managers” came to us unasked for to declare that: “the staff informed you about time limit when they sat you down (no they didn’t)”, “it is clearly stated in the booking process (no it is nowhere on the papers I signed), and that “this is their standard process and we should have known it (not true, I was here before with a large group of colleagues and there was no time limit enforced). No apology, nothing, just pushing the blame onto the customer. Then kept us in a limbo state for another 20 mins or so until we finally could pay and leave.

One star added for the food and the servers who, despite being inexperienced, work under a lot of pressure and stress and did their best to apologise. Management looked...

Bad experience.Not worth it and too expensive to what we got ! There is no salad bar, just 3 mini selections of salad. There is no varieties in general because it is too small. The grills and the sauces are too boring , they don’t even have chicken breast ! The sweets selection is like the salat selection even worth specially with the waffles. The only thing i recommend is the soup , and the mango ice cream. We arrived at 15:00 the girl on the entrance was not even looking at us or saying hello ,we said we have a reservation, and then she said : “ ok komm “ she showed us our table , giving us the menus and leaving. Then we have been checking the 2 tables” buffet “(which is located on the entrance), we saw her again and we asked :” how is it the system here ?” She replied in a super rude tone with a big fake smile :” you must wait for the waiter to come ! “ The atmosphere is too dark , the bowls next to the grill are not clean and the ice cream spoon also (i took the ice cream with the soup spoon).
