HÖVELS Hausbrauerei — Restaurant in Dortmund

Pre-corona this was probably a fantastic place. However, I was quite disappointed. As a brewery, it fails to hit the mark. It's just a bar/restaurant that serves only it's own house beer with decent food. To elaborate, per their website tastings must be booked in advance - so I emailed to reserve. I was told there was nothing available in the evening but we were welcome at 12:00, and there were no tours possible yet. I emailed a few more times to confirm we had a tasting at noon, and was told we were welcome. I realize now that this is not a confirmation of the tasting, but it's also not a rejection/decline. We rushed to get there at noon and the first guy was puzzled and got a second person. He had to consult another person and I was eventually told we could go inside and have a look but there was no tour of the brewery possible. (Not a problem, we already knew that.) AND that we had to wait for the chef to arrive for the tasting. We ordered beers and waited for the chef. When the menu was passed around (indicating the chef had indeed arrived) I asked about the tasting and was told "NO." Very flatly, very firmly, with no explanation of why we were told 30 minutes prior we could once the chef was there. It's very confusing and disappointing. We did eat, the food was good, and drank several of their different beers. There's nothing special...

Es sollte ein schöner Abend mit der Familie werden, mit gutem Essen und guten Service..... Es wurde ein sehr kurzer Aufenthalt ohne Essen mit Wechsel zum nächstgelegenen Restaurant am Hohen Wall. Das Servicepersonal war sehr kühl reserviert, unfreundlich und überhaupt nicht sympathisch. Wir hatten eine Woche zuvor via E-Mail einen Tisch für 5 Personen reserviert, die Reservierung wurde uns recht zügig bestätigt. Als wir dann gestern zu unserem Tisch kamen und die Bedienung unsere Getränke aufnahm, erhielten wir die extrem ausgedünnte Speisekarte gereicht. Die Begründung sei, dass aufgrund von Krankenständen die Küche nicht genug Personal hätte und deswegen die Karte reduziert werden musste. Das Servicepersonal trat sich auf der Fläche fast die Füße platt und rannte sich um, weil dort zu viel Personal war. Die Speisekarte online, die man vor seinem Besuch studiert und sich bereits Gedanken macht, was man vielleicht essen möchte, ist im Gegensatz zu anderen Lokalen auch schon Recht übersichtlich, aber ausreichend. Das was uns gestern vorgelegt wurde war einfach für jeden von uns 5 NICHTS. Vegetarische Gerichte für Möchtegern-Hipster, gute Deutsche-Küche die auch nicht für jedermann etwas ist und für Kinder gab es überhaupt nichts zur Auswahl. Dessert und Salat auch eine Katastrophe, weil es schon eher speziell war. Auch mit wenig Personal kann man die eigentliche Karte gut anbieten, aber wenn man keinen Bock hat, dann verzichtet man halt auf Gäste aus der Region. Uns erschien es so, als würde auf regionale Gäste keinen Wert gelegt, sondern eher auf all die Touristen, die wegen Messen, Fussball oder Geschäftsreisen in Dortmund einkehren - die kommen ja schließlich nicht so oft wie heimische Gäste. Als wir unsere Getränke bezahlten und der Bedienung sagten wieso wir nichts essen werden und sofort gehen, murmelte die Dame ein leises Entschuldigung und zuckte mit den Schultern. Der Restaurantleiter sollte sich des Weiteren überlegen künftig diese Informationen mit ausgedünnter Karte und wenig Personal ggfs. auf seiner Website und bei Email-Kontakt Gästen mitzuteilen. Auf der Website wird groß mit Herbstkarte usw. geworben und dabei ist die ausgefüllte Speisekarte seit über einer Woche schon so im Programm. Sehr unprofessionell und für uns ein Punkt das Hövels nie wieder zu besuchen und im Freundeskreis nicht...

Traditional german food and horrible service! Ordered beer brough after several remindings, saying that we did not order. First propose herself to pack the rest with us, but after we confirmed, waitress said that we did not ask to do this. The rest empty plates did not take away. Had to sit the rest of the evening with the empty plates on the table. Ignored all our requests!! Maybe she did not like us. Now we also do not like her as well. Last five years during exhibition visited this place, but in the future big question after such a service! Pity... Why was that??? Fau Frohlich war absolut nicht frohlich und ueberhaupt nicht...
