I wish I could give Alex Coffee Shop zero stars. My partner and I stopped by for a simple evening treat—mint tea, hot chocolate, and a banoffee waffle—and what followed was the most sloppy, overpriced “service” I’ve ever encountered. Zero Professionalism • No menus handed out: the staff barked at us to order on the spot, as if we were at a fast-food joint, not a supposedly “charming” café. • When I dared to ask for a fork (we were two people, yet they handed us only one FORK and one SPOON), I got side-eye as if I’d personally insulted them. Cold, Watery “Hot” Chocolate • Tasted like hot water with a whisper of cocoa powder. • Delivered lukewarm—ironic for a “hot” chocolate, and not remotely comforting on a chilly day. • When I politely requested a splash of hot water to fix it, the barista looked mortified, as if I’d asked for their firstborn. Unbrewed Mint Tea Disaster • Loose leaves literally dumped into a cup, no infuser, no lid, no brewing time. • Served pale and flavorless—more like warm water with a few mint twigs floating on top.

Endless Wait for Waffle • Our banoffee waffle arrived only when we were finishing those dreadful drinks. • Ice cream melting into a sad puddle, waffle growing cold, soggy, and bland. • Presented with a single long-handled spoon (clearly meant for ice cream), forcing me to scoop cake with the wrong utensil.

The setting outside looks quaint, but don’t be fooled—this place is all style, zero substance. Overpriced, poorly prepared, and staffed by people who seem stunned when asked to do basic tasks. Save your time, money, and sanity: steer clear of Alex...

i visited here last night with a bunch of friends. it was my first time visiting Alex. the location is nice and due to the city fest it was fully occupied outside. we wanted to sit outside due to pleasant weather but we were denied and had to sit inside. Although from inside the interior is very chic but was humid and warm to sit. the food was okay very normal tasting, nothing that has inspired me to come back for and yes the service i didn't like it. Exceedingly poor service. My dad and I sat down around noon on a Thursday, and despite there being many empty tables and at least three waiters, no one came over to take our orders despite other tables around us being serviced. We tried to signal, but the waiters all kept their heads down and immediately ran back inside the restaurant. Having worked in the restaurant industry myself, it should be common to always keep your head up in case of customers. Very disappointing because the menu itself looked like a wide array of cuisine, we eventually left & I doubt the staff...
