The pension is located in the Neustadt (or New Town). From here, it was a 5-10min walk to the nearest tram station and then a short tram ride to the Old Town to visit the tourist sights. The pension occupies a building built in the 1700s, it does tend to look a bit run down from the outside but very charmingly done up on the inside. The staff were most pleasant, and free wifi is provided. If you have a car, parking is free along the street where the guesthouse is situated or if you drive slightly further up, there is more parking space in front of a church. We stayed there for 1 night in Nov, and took a ground floor double-room situated at the back of the building. Our room was very large, with basic furnishing, it had a rustic feel to it because of the red brick walls, plenty of floor space and clean. Our only complain would be the bathroom which was a bit chilly as there was no heater installed in it.||The restaurant served decent food at reasonable prices and also seemed to be patronised by a lot of non-guests. All in all, we loved the place. It was idyllic, unpretentious and a little bit quirky. The restaurant also had an al fresco area which would have been a great place to spend a...

Read moreI particularly like staying in pensions when visiting Germany because of their simple amenities and the ease with which you can come and go, but Pension Raskolnikoff has a number of other very special points going for it: the rooms are very clean and spacious and with a very modern feel (we stayed in the awesome room #5 with its sloped attic ceilings), the bar and restaurant on the ground floor are both great, the surrounding Außere Neustadt neighborhood is hip and fun to be in (while still being only a half hour walk across the bridge to the Altstadt, or a very short tram ride), and the hotel itself feels like you've stumbled on a well-kept secret with its unassuming front door and little red front door light.||||The building also hosts an art gallery, and its location in the Neustadt can't be beat. The pension is probably best for couples, families with somewhat older children (say, over six or seven years of age?), but perhaps not for very young children. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly book another stay at Pension Raskolnikoff in the future, as well as recommending it to any of my...
